    Magnum slug weight vs...

If you use the Icon forged flat top, you have to get the lighter pin...they offer it. The Hyperuetectic piston is a dish, and requires the heads to be milled alot to get compression up to 9.8:1...but it's the same weight as the stock piston/pin/rings...

    Magnum slug weight vs...

Be careful comparing piston and pin weights ONLY! What allows the Icon and KB pistons to be used is the Piston/Pin/Ring weights...must include the ring weight to keep the bobweight the same as OEM. If you use a piston/pin combo that has lighter rings, the balance can be off by 15g or more...

cast iron heads vs aluminum for stroked 340

Thank you sir...Can't help to get a little bothered by random posts like this where someone spews lies just to poke at others. We work very hard (as I'm sure you and other shops do too) to maintain a pinnacle reputation, that's why if there was a real problem I would have liked the opportunity...

    engine quest E/Q cylinder heads

It's Comp's 230-236@ .050 cam, like .560 lift...no we used our 2.02 valves and blended the valve job into the bowl. Yes step headers.

Shelf Comp hyd. roller, 230-236@ .050 on 110lca. Carb was box stock 750DP. OOTB EQ heads prepped by us, OOTB airgap intake, 1" spacer and TTI headers.

    engine quest E/Q cylinder heads

If you check out this months car craft we did a 350 vortec chevy engine that made 435HP using stock bottom end vortec, EQ heads, air gap style intake, hyd. roller cam, etc...now...without letting too much out...we are building an identical 360 mopar magnum built to the exact specs of the...

    engine quest E/Q cylinder heads

Fully ported the Edelbrock will make at least 30-40HP more than fully ported Indy iron or EQ heads...then you go Indy's for another 30-70Hp more and so on.... Brian

    engine quest E/Q cylinder heads

With minor porting the edelbrock magnum heads are very good! Actually, they are better than the LA heads OOTB for power as well...the LA will flow more air (more potential HP) when all out effort porting is done, but for street/strip builds I like the magnums best! Brian

    engine quest E/Q cylinder heads

We're getting ready to build a budget 5.9 magnum with EQ heads, 9.8:1, hyd. roller cam and 4 BBL intake to see if we can get more than the budget 350 chevy we did...should be close!

    Comp cams degreeing issue

An easy way to tell how much advance you have it to check the ex. centerline in conjunction with the intake centerline. I see too many people not check the ex. centerline and that's a big mistake. If your cam is cut on a 110lca, and you advance it 4°, then the intake should be at 106 and the...

    porting stealth heads (tips)

The biggest gain you can make is to have a very good valve job done and blend the bottom cuts into the bowl. Then just take down any slag in the ports and blend the short turns.

    Thumpr cam question

Biggest power gain will be to ditch the eddy carb and go to a holley 650 double pumper. Put a 1" open spacer under it and call it good. A 750 can work well too, but the 650 will work better with your gearing/converter.

    Moly rings and nitrous

Even using small amounts of NOS I would go with a hellfire ring (steel).

    Looking for cam shaft advice

solid roller, 236@ .050, .640 lift gross on a 111lca straight up. It will make a VERY broad power curve and still idle good and should make at least 575HP. Brian

    engine dyno prices???

Sure, but the dyno can get you real close right out of the gate. There's always things to try, especially when it comes to suspension. The dyno can also help spot a potential catastrophe! I've seen some crazy things when it should have been "normal" break in and tune. Plus if you have a...

    302 casting potential?

Well put! Now we can let it rest....LOL!

    302 casting potential?

Well...if dyno #'s don't translate into E.T. then something IS wrong...everytime I pickup power on the dyno, it translates into e.t. Period. As for flow and velocity, you want the most fps you can have and still make power. Velocity does not mean HP either!

    302 casting potential?

Just giving you my REAL WORLD experience...you don't have to agree or do what I suggest. But your wrong! I've run alot of sb mopars across our dyno, flowed alot of heads, and built a whole bunch of engines...20 years worth. But hey...what do I know...LOL! I know it takes alot more to get...

    302 casting potential?

Sorry...but this is not true. As long as the porting/valve job/chamber transition is correct, the larger valve size "allows" more flow and velocity. Period. You can easily find this by probing the port with a pitot tube and see the increase in velocity with FPS using a Superflow Flowcom...

    302 casting potential?

They should be swirl chambers...not swirl ports if they are 318 heads. In those I go to a 1.84 chevy 305 intake valve, 11/32 guide and do some porting. Going to a 2.02 valve it's impossible to get the port shaped correctly...the flow bench will say the 2.02 valve with porting is great, but the...

    Too much?

When I first finished my duster it was a street car, W2 headed 360. It made right at 510HP on our dyno in pump gas form. So no, W2's are not too much. Alot depends on the porting. You can really open them up and make them work well, but that's not realistic for what your doing although the...

That's fine. I actually got that handle from my Uncle who always used to say that...and I do like Van Halen (but not their biggest fan...LOL). I totally understand where you are coming from, and I know first hand (my duster)that suspension is equally important in a drag car...I just prefer...

Looking for more HP from a 360

Do you mean .021 in the hole? Are these stock OEM type pistons or something else? I dyno'd an engine 2 years ago that was kinda interesting: It was in Mark Kirby's "Grape Ape" duster. He had been running a 340 with ported stock heads, mostly stock parts like rods and crank, and a large...

Looking for more HP from a 360

This is not doing what he wants. Ofcourse you can run 11's with stock ported heads...no one said you can't. Why waste $$$ on crack prone stock heads when eddies will do the job and lighten up the front at the same time???? I never said you HAVE to run eddies to make it into the 11's. You are...

    Head Porting basics

The pushrod pinch is the SMALLEST point in the entire intake tract. Forget the flow bench...making the pushrod pinch large will help HP at all levels in this case. Just don't break through if you can help it. Also if you open up the SMALLEST point (pushrod pinch) you'll help airflow down...
