    Final assembly question

Hey FABO, I need input from the body and paint guys. I have my current build assembled, gapped and panel matched for final priming and blocking. I spent over 50 hours installing and adjusting everything to get it close enough. I will be shooting color in a couple weeks then be ready to assemble...

    Painting

That is the same product I used on my current build after taking the entire car down to bare metal. I followed with urethane primer and will use the PPG sealer just before spraying the color.

    Paint question

My dilemma is cost. I used PPG Concept on my last paint job and have about 2 quarts of color left, no reducer no catalyst. Also I have one unopened quart of sealer/cat. and one unopened quart of clear. I want to paint my current build the same color as my Barracuda using the same system. Jam...

    Paint question

Question for you body and paint guys, how many quarts of sprayable single stage color do you mix for the body and required jamming of a mopar A-body car. Assume good coverage in 3/4 coats on the exterior. Interior not included here, it is a different color.

Tired of Body Filler Hardening Too Quickly?

I saw that video during research for my current build. It was impressive watch him work with the materials. But!!!! He was weighing the material on a scale to get his mix just right. How many of us are weighing our mud on a digital scale. That was some high end stuff right there.

    body filler application

Yes it can be brutal work, here is my current setup-----------------the car is on a rotisserie--

    body filler application

I am doing a full paint on my current build. For me it is down to bare metal, epoxy primer, urethane sandable primer, hit with 350 grit, clean and apply filler. Block until it is as straight as your perseverence allows, final prime with sandable, block and shoot color. But that's just me. Lots...

    Ceramics or traditional car wax?

I don't use wax on my Barracuda. I use a product called Rejex. It's an aircraft product used by pilots to make their airplanes easy to clean. My friend who is a pilot got me using it. My Barracuda is easy to clean and looks good all the time because of the Rejex.

    New Body and Paint

For me it depends on the condition of the metal under the paint. My Barracuda I sanded the original body and parts, primed, blocked, sealed and painted. My current project had rust issues so I am taking it all down to bare metal and using epoxy primer, sandable primer, block seal and paint. That...

    HVLP?

Think about getting a gun you can grow with. Check Eastwood, they have a good range of choices. Once you get started, painting will become more of your workload.

    More sanding??

I used my DA and 60 grit, wiped it down with the cleaner and shot the epoxy primer. The next day it got the high build primer and two weeks cure time before sanding.

    Primer

I'm painting my project car now. I'm down to bare metal and I will paint it with epoxy primer and follow with high build sandable the next day. Being inside the window to avoid sanding the epoxy saves me a step. Then I will bodywork it as required, block it out, seal it before color. I have 11...

I am Sooooo Confused over Paint

I'm a fan of epoxy primer, high build sandable, polyurethane single stage. I like PPG concept but our local vendor is dropping it, says it's too expensive. I'm bummed because I have a half gallon of color left from my Barracuda build and the rest and have a comet cyclone to paint that codes out...

    Full floor pan install

I did the full Floorpan replacement on my 65 Comet. I put the car on stands under the rockers and levelled it. Then I cut the old Floorpan out and prepped the subframes and torque boxes for the new Floorpan. Before doing any welding I re-levelled the car with my laser and welded the Floorpan to...

    Paint Advice Needed

Metallic will be difficult with single stage but single stage will be easy to flatten. Metallic will be easier with 2 stage but harder to flatten. JMHO

    67 barracuda passenger side mirror

Classic Industries part #2802710. I found my invoice. I put it on mostly for looks but when I drive it to work, I back it in to my assigned slot and I installed it to help me with that as well. I haven't had time to work on my car so its still up on blocks waiting for the dual exhaust tip...

How do you protect new paint during restoration?

Mine was cured out. I taped all the edges with bodyshop tape and no one else touched the car but me. After assembly I cut and buffed it.

They dress the corners of the 67 Barracuda plastic glass lockstrip. They may fit other 67 models as well. In 68 up the glass trimmers are polished stainless steel held in with clips under the gaskets.

    Removing the old paint “edges”

I'm blasting my current project to bare metal with #70 sand. The owner got off to a bad start with the wrong products. Now I will shoot everything with epoxy primer and body work and prime it until it is straight enough for color.

notchback vinyl top molding clip help

Those are the correct ones. You need speed nuts for the posts, a common body/paint supply item. I know it’s possible but I cant remember what I did. I’ll check my photos tomorrow and see if I can help.
