    Head Bolts for Aluminum Heads

Yeah I get that. My question is if I add the correct washer to each bolt, can I use the stock head bolts?

    Head Bolts for Aluminum Heads

I've got a 360 and installing Edelbrock heads. The Edelbrock instructions say to use their head bolts, or use washers with any other bolts. My question: Can I use stock head bolts (except for position #5) as long as I use hardened washers with them? Is that what the instructions are alluding to?

Looking for Oil Pan and Pickup Input

Hello all, I'm building a stock 360 date code 1975. I'm running a stock windage tray on this engine and have questions about fitment with oil pans and pickups. I'm considering a Milodon 30755 pan. I understand these pans have an "internal baffle". Did an OEM have an internal baffle like...

Aluminum Intakes - What are You Running?

Just generally speaking, but you're right when it gets right down to it... the rest of the build matters. I mentioned I have an LD340 on a mild 340 engine.... 4-speed wth 3.55s. I may build a 360 in the near future for a daily driver Dart. Again mild, 9.5 compression, automatic and tall...

Aluminum Intakes - What are You Running?

I'm looking for opinions on aftermarket intakes from those of you who have mild build/daily driver small blocks. I have an Edelbrock LD340 on one of my cars, but I figured technology has developed since those were made; so, what are you running and why do you like or not like it? Thanks for...

I've concluded, thanks to everyone's help here, that there are a few contributors at play here.

    Shake Shake Shake

They move up and down on the fingers. IF I ever pull the trans in the near future, I'd probably just go ahead and replace the clutch since it's been in the car since 1996. I enjoy pulling transmissions for trial and error purposes as much as I enjoy having teeth pulled. Haha... It's a...

    Shake Shake Shake

I bought the clutch because my buddy had one and it grabbed strong. I had no idea what the weights were. You're right though, they don't move very freely. I remember moving them around with my hand before I installed it and they got hung up easily.

    Shake Shake Shake

Oh yeah it goes away with any additional rpm. It's just an idle thing. I bet it's a combination of the clutch and the soft motor mounts. Like I said, regardless of how weird the car sounds in the video, it's got a smooth sound and a healthy idle aside from the shake.

    Shake Shake Shake

Could very well be the clutch. That's a great point. It's a Centerforce dual friction that I put in about 1996. I want to think everything is new in the car until I start thinking what year I did stuff. I guess I'm old. Haha

    Shake Shake Shake

I've got the thing tuned pretty well, as I have had it before. I feel like if I had some more firm motor mounts the shake might go away all together. The mounts on the car now are the ones that came with the Schumacher 273 to 340 conversion brackets. I bought them about 15 years ago or more...

I just reset the timing and hadn't adjusted it yet. I've got it set correctly now.

    Shake Shake Shake

Yeah I'm sure I'm stewing on it more than I should. The mounts are as new as the rebuild.... 20 years-ish. They could probably stand to be replaced. I've had a couple different carbs on there and same results. It's pretty dialed in. Thanks for the input!

Thanks everyone for jumping in and being patient as I mess with this. I'm running ported vacuum, so I'm not into the advance when at idle. Today I started over with the timing. Got it on TDC just to double check it. Then 15 base line advance, and with vacuum advance connected I get 40...

    Shake Shake Shake

I think it's a '68 motor but have to confirm. I hope to spend some more time on it today and tomorrow. The motor has Keith Black pistons. I retract my suspicion it's a failing valve spring because I just put a fresh set of Edelbrock heads on it. The shake was present prior to the head swap.

    Shake Shake Shake

Upon further investigation.... I may have a valve problem after all. I have a knock up high on the passenger side. Like maybe I have a failing valve spring. This would be weird though since these are brand new Edelbrock heads and the problem predates these heads.

I just had the heads off, and everything looks great. Rockers, pushrods etc. When I made the video, I should have walked around back, because the valves don't sound out, nor does it sound like there's a misfire. Idles really nice. The sound in the video is not a good representation of...

    Shake Shake Shake

You may be on to something here. The engine has had this shake (at idle only) since I built it years ago. It actually runs killer, but just at idle I get that intermittent shake. No misfires. It hits on all eight and runs very smooth while I drive it. Crank my be the source of it.

    Shake Shake Shake

My 340 has a shake that I can't seem to tune out. I wonder if anyone has input after watching the video. The engine actually runs really well despite the way it sounds in the video. It's an intermittent shake that you can clearly see by looking at the air cleaner. The motor is pretty low...
