    "Early A" doesn't cut it

Best part is, I don’t have to poke a button to ignore someone. But you’ve probably already noticed that.

    "Early A" doesn't cut it

What about the ‘74 only seat belt interlock? And which forum does the ‘74 A-Bodies without the bumper shocks fit in? I’m so confused.

    MOPAR Dead?

And I think the Coyote motor produces much less emissions than the Hemi. There is a sliding bar graph on new car window stickers you can compare them with.

    MOPAR Dead?

Not a fan of battery operated cars, but kind of intrigued by the coming Ramcharger concept. The electric motor part of EV’s seems to have gotten pretty good, just the battery tech has leveled off (IMO). So the idea of pure electric motors and an ICE engine running at a constant load and RPM...

Best RACK AND PINION set-up for Early A?

Sure hope you haven't bought into the "coil over and rack only" line that the GM crowd spits out all the time. An old Camaro absolutely needs a modern suspension, Mopars do not. The TB suspension can be upgraded to work well, my Duster drove just like my Challenger did even before I added PS...

    "392" Pan Alternative for a 360...

I thought all 360 pans for a car were a center sump, but maybe there are tweaks to the sump on that pan that makes it better? Outside my experience, just curious.

    "392" Pan Alternative for a 360...

What is a "392" pan? I've never heard of an issue with any 360 oil pan, as long as it was from a car.

    "392" Pan Alternative for a 360...

The issue is the LA pan has a notch at the front corners and the 1-piece gasket doesn't fill it in. You can cut the "hoops" off the 1-piece gasket and use the 360 LA end gaskets, or fill in the notch with RTV. That's what I did. Oh, and the 1-piece gasket is for a 360/5.2/5.9 only. The 318...

    Brake Pedal Swap

Not trying to piss you off, just sharing my experience. Almost sounds like you are talking about the main bracket? I am only talking about the pedal, nothing else. The brake pedal is clearly different between the two, that’s all I am saying.

    Brake Pedal Swap

Here is a link to a pedal setup for an early car: Brewer's Performance - Mopar A833 4-Speed Transmission and Component Specialists And a later car: Brewer's Performance - Mopar A833 4-Speed Transmission and Component Specialists Not sure why I can't link just the picture, would be easier...

    Brake Pedal Swap

Didn't know that. But I stand by my point that the curve in the pedal is completely different and the early car is on the right of the column and the late car is on the left. I have one of both on my garage floor right now, but will try and find example online so I don't have to go through the...

    Brake Pedal Swap

The frame does appear to be different between the early and late setup, but there is a significant difference in the brake pedal itself as well. The early brake pedal curves around to the right of the column while the later brake pedal is to the left of the column. Had a friend that bought a...

    Who makes a Early-A Narrow Aftermarket K-member

I have a later slant six one I narrowed to fit a '63 Valiant. Sectioned it in the middle and moved the motor mounts forward and out to match the new mounts. Then I scrapped the car. I wanted spool motor mounts, a double shear idler arm mount and the better (in my opinion) sway bar. All...

Taking the 66 Valiant on a Road Trip Soon CA to WA

The thought just occurred to me that if you were going to the peninsula and wanted to avoid about as much of Seattle as possible, the ferry to Mukilteo and Highway 2 might be about the best solution. I90 and I5 are huge and the towns around them are crowded. Not sure it matters, but it just...

Taking the 66 Valiant on a Road Trip Soon CA to WA

I'm actually west of Spokane, but with regards to timeline and miles, functionally the same. Certainly not the route to take if you are trying to minimize miles or time. :) No idea what 395 looks like south of Pendelton, but north of it, it is really just ho-hum. Highway 2 has some nice...

Taking the 66 Valiant on a Road Trip Soon CA to WA

Take 395 all the way up to highway 2 and then across. Not the fastest way, but then you would drive past my place and you could stop and have a burger or something.

Taking the 66 Valiant on a Road Trip Soon CA to WA

I like the 1 and then the 101 myself. But it has been several years since we took that route and I know there has been a rock slide on the 1 and no idea how it would work now. Really enjoyed our trip (from WA down to CA, so opposite), always wanted to go back and do it again in something with...

    Motor Mount Solution

I think your best bet is to take a later spool mount k-frame for a /6, narrow it 2.46" (IIRC) and move the motor mounts forward 2" and out the same amount you narrowed it. This would allow you use the later spool mounts, plus give you a better idler arm mount and the ability to use the later...

    Front track width

The AMA and MVMA specs show the following (I believe the governing body name changed, but the charts appear to match): 1964 Valiant tread - 55.9 front, 55.6 rear 1974 Valiant tread - 59.1 front, 55.4 rear Note that wheels probably affect this some, as does the possible additional width due to...

    v-6 in early A-body

Exactly my point. If someone used the distributor to read both the crank and cam position, you would get a sloppy reading for both. More than just an issue with the location of the manufacturing plant. The MSD stuff (last I looked) is a flying magnet style and gives a different type of...

    v-6 in early A-body

Not talking about issues with the function of a timing set, only that I see the small amount of slop in any chain causing fluctuations in the readings. I just don't think you can depend on the relationship between a camshaft and a crankshaft connected with a chain to remain consistent...

    v-6 in early A-body

Mopar actually did develop something like this when they were working on the EFI kit for the 390 hp crate motors. The Mopar catalogs said something about a dual pickup distributor for manual transmission kits. I referenced it years ago in a post asking if anyone knew what it was. I asked Rich...

1965 Dodge dart..gas cap desperation!!! calling all experts!

I've got a stock one (I think), an aftermarket locking one (but no key), and one of Damraider's custom ones. In the end I don't need any of them as the Valiant is going to get scrapped as soon as I find a trailer to put it on.

17" rims on an early A. need some pics

Here's my Valiant with some later model Mustang rims (they were cheap). The fronts are a 245/45-17 and would need fender mods at the bottom front to work. A smaller tire or different back spacing might help as well. Just an FYI.

How wide a 17" front tire for 66 Dart?

My '63 Valiant with 245/45R17 Mustang wheels is going to need a trim on the front lower corner of the fender (hits when you turn them). Wheels have a 5.72" basckspacing, much less than that and you will run into the tie rod end (might anyways). If you don't mind the trim (isn't really much)...

Right Angle Oil Filter - NEED HELP!!!

I had a later aluminum one off a Dippy cop car that I fit to my engine with stock manifolds. Everything fit fine, until I tried to put a filter on it. The angle was different (very hard to see) and it hit the frame rail no matter what I did. Had to go back to the stock cast iron one. My...
