    Are 340’s rare

Yeah, while I appreciate a strong running 360, 408 stroker etc. To me they're kinda like belly buttons, seems everybody has them. Again, I appreciate the performance, but I've had a special place in my heart for 340s ever since getting my clock cleaned (repeatedly lol) by one as a kid driving...

Those that have them like and appreciate them for what they are.

    Intake coices

Running one on my Duster 340. Work very nicely when paired with the 3500 stall and 4.30s. Given the OP is working on a truck, dual plane may be a better choice.

    650 or 750 Edelbrock on 340

Thanks for all the input everyone. I'll definitely try a couple different carbs to see what it likes. Ultimately the car will be enjoyed on strip/street rips and leisurely backroad cruises.

    650 or 750 Edelbrock on 340

Hey Mike, @EL5DEMON340 That's friggin awesome. I may just take you up on that offer! If nothing else, I can check out all the changes you've made to the Demon since we saw each other last. And gotta check out the work on the heads too. Thinking of doing some work on these new Eddys. I'll...

    650 or 750 Edelbrock on 340

Hey Folks, In the process of putting the top end of the 340 back together. 72 Duster, 340, J-Heads w 2.02 intake, 727 w/RMVB, 3500 stall, 4.30 gears. The motor has what appears to be a decent cam (Unknown grind but really comes alive as the rpms increase), .30 over KB 1267 10.2 pistons...

Stamping on 340 in 72 Duster?

Hey folks, Chasing threads and cleaning everything up for the new heads. Happened to notice this stamping on the block. Any ideas what, if any, significance it has? Don't know much about the motor other than it was rebuilt at some point in it's life. Thanks in advance!

    72 340

Can always pull the pan if in doubt. Some earlier 72 340s had forged cranks, mine did. But as noted above, yourd appears to be cast balancer.

    Cieaning up Edelbrock Aluminum heads?

Hey Folks, Getting ready to clean up the new Eddy heads I picked up. The areas pictured below appear to have a thin ridge that appears to not have been opened up completely. While I can see where they opened the areas up with a router but looks like there's a bit of material I could clean up...

Anyone running old school adjustable Rocker Arms on Eddy 60779 heads?

Hey Folks, Getting my list of parts required to install the Eddy 60779 heads on the 340. Not really looking for rollers. I know Edelbrock indicates the heads were designed to accept the old style adjustable rocker arms when using a more aggressive than stock cam. I'm thinking about using the...

Edelbrock Heads and headers in 72 Duster

Hey Folks, Picked up a set of Edelbrock heads (60779) for the Duster (72, 340, 727, Hooker Comps, manual steeringabd brakes). Would love to keep the Hooker Comps and wondering if anyone's running a similar combo? Did you need to modify/clearance the headers to fit? I have no problem taking a...

rear main seal replacement 73 Dart 318 V8

Hope that's it. Mine was doing the same after replacing the rear main. Pulled the inspection plate and hit it with brake cleaner and airhose. Did the trick. Of course, came to find that my 90 oil filter was weeping too...lol. Good luck with the troubleshooting.

Short oil filter w/headers vs 90 Degree set up?

Hey folks, Digging into the Duster to perform some preseason work. Thinking about eliminating the 90-degree oil filter set up (never able to stop seepage/drips) in favor of standard fitment shorty filter. Anyone running full length headers w/o a 90 degree setup? Doable? Pros-Cons? 72...
