    360 is still running hot

Your engine is "designed" to run at 195* so use the 195* thermostat. If you use a 160* stat the hotter water will not sit out in the airflow long enough to transfer heat from the fins to the air passing through. A good rule of thumb for antifreeze is 1 liter for every cylinder plus one in...

    best coolant flush?

Reverse System Power Flush! with compressed air and water at you favorite radiator shop. This is the only way to do it. Every two years get it done and change your antifreeze, thermostat and rad cap. Save your money on the prestone flush at your local lube shop, take your girl out for a...

    My Cooling Improvement Project (hopefully)

Sorry Bill, no engineers degree, just experience from owning a radiator shop and having that explained to me by my partner who was in the industry for 20 years and since then getting my journeyman's sheetmetal ticket and quoting my instructors who were very knowledgeable. The "hot travels to...

    My Cooling Improvement Project (hopefully)

This " theory" is actually fact due to the whole premise of airflow cooling the hot water in the radiator. Same idea as a/c ( hot travels to cold). If the hot water moves too fast thru the rad it does not have enough time in the cooler airflow to transfer.

Used to own a rad shop. Them chrome aftermarket housings were always uneven. after milling it down, check the level on a piece of glass like your front door or kitchen window. You will see if it is flat or not. After that use Mr Gasket "Right Stuff"on the motor and the housing, install the...

Biggest most massive 4 core rad for a 68 Barracuda?

Take your car with the rad that is in it, and go to a RADIATOR SHOP! Do not waste your money at a quick lube type shop that offer rad flushes. All they do is cut your heater line, install a "t" fitting and run a garden hose to it and "flush" your system. Save your money on that and go for a...

    rad and fan!

what ever you do may I suggest if you are going to install an electric fan try not to use the plastic pull thru push pins that come with the fan. Instead make a frame that mounts the fan to the top and bottom rails of the rad. The problem with the pull thru clips is that the fan will vibrate...

    Best place for a radiator

I used to own a rad shop and we got our high end recores from Pacific Radiator out of Vancouver BC area. I myself would go this route because there are a lot of "cheap" rads made overseas and Mexico and the old saying goes for radiators, you get what you pay for. Recoring allows you to custom...

Fix for leaking chrome T-stat and valve covers.

After sanding it down hold it up to a window and you can see any warped areas by the reflection. Also a great gasket compound is made by Mr. Gasket called "RIGHT STUFF" it comes in a black tube and it works like nothing else I have ever used!

    aluminum radiator

Another thing no mentioned is you should have your cooling system flushed by a professional. Not the quiky lube down the street where they cut into your heater hose and install a tee then flush water through your system, ( Waste of money!) But a REVERSE SYSTEM POWER FLUSH that will clean your...
