    Brake booster question

Well, that all makes sense. 2 things. When bleeding the brakes after the new master was installed ( by a mechanic I might add! ) there was a point when I as the pumper felt and heard a bit of a snap in the pedal or assembly. Next, the right front and right rear brakes have hung up completely at...

    Brake booster question

I bought a new booster/master cylinder for my Duster. I took the master off the booster to paint the booster. I put a vacuum gauge on the car today and had almost no vacuum on the small nipple at the booster. I pulled the fitting out of the booster and there was no difference in vacuum. I put...

    Right front caliper hangs up

I will check out the caliper and hose. when the new booster and master cylinder arrived it was assembled as a unit. I did remove the master cylinder so the booster could be painted. I ran the car a half dozen times with the rod hanging out of the booster. I hope I got it right when I reassembled it.

    Right front caliper hangs up

74 Duster with factory front disc brakes. All new lines and hoses. New booster and master cylinder. The only part not replaced is the proportioning valve. Overall the brakes don't feel right, although I have to admit its been 38 years since I drove a 43 year old car with power brakes. They feel...

I have it at a shop now and they say the wheel cylinder is too small. Anyone know what the right wheel cylinder part number for a 8.25 rear with 10 drums?

    Duralast brake shoes

Ok. The problem is the hole in the front shoe for the retainer pin and spring are different from the old shoes. To put the top of the shoe in the proper position the retainer pin would be angled up about 30 degrees or more. I'm going to get different brake shoes. What should I get?

    Duralast brake shoes

I'm not sure Keith. I had poor Al here yesterday with no brake tools putting them together. I stopped at Advance Auto and bought some cheap brake tools. Today. I'm going to take a whack at it in a few minutes. I'm real sure I can solve it after Al did the heavy lifting. I do think the longer...

    Duralast brake shoes

Here is the whole thing we put bith yellow springs oninitiall. last night I put the short spring on the front shoe to see if it would pull it up to make that piston rod straighten out but it did not. You can see the front shoe is not sitting as close to the top pin as the rear shoe is. It's...

    Duralast brake shoes

Has anyone ever seen a wheels cylinder rod pitch down so much? Car is a 74 Duster with 10 drums in the back. We put together with the long spring on the front shoe as well and switched to the short spring thinking it would help the angle of the rod. No such luck

    How would you do it?

My Duster was a rusted roller when I got 3 years ago and when I stripped it down, I removed all off the brake lines. I have the body finished and painted now and I am about ready to install my motor and trans. I want a stock look for the most part, and I'm wondering what others would do to...

What is the proper name for this?

I was hoping someone could tell me what this fitting is called? And I also need to know how to remove the sender/sensor? I assume the black wire goes into the under hood harness. If not where does it lead to? Thanks!
