    Tuning Caltrac Bars

Start out with an 1/8" air gap, if that doesn't work then go to no air gap, then to the 1/4 turn pre-load, then 1/2 turn pre-load.....if none of those work drop the bar to the bottom hole and try it in the same order I just posted. My duster with BFG drag radials like the bottom hole with zero...

    SS springs & Caltracs

I wouldn't ad the SS springs....put the bars on the stock springs and let it eat. I have my Cal-Tracs in the bottom hole with not air gap with my stock springs....but I run Drag Radials as weel and you need to hit them harder so they stick. Follow Calvert's recomendations and you'll be good to go.

    SS springs & Caltracs

Calvert has told me they will be just fine together but they recommend their mon-leaves to get the full benifit of the weight savings and use from the bars. I run mine with stock leaf springs yet until I can afford the mono's.....I have other priorities vs buying leaf springs for the car.

    Cal Tracs

Yep...they are well worth the money. Getting the mono springs, bars and shocks will definetly be an improvement. Also Calvert has top notch customer service and tech advice.

    Too Much Power Steering!

You don't need a new column for the power to manual swap. Flaming River makes a beautiful shaft that has a U-joint on it to lengthen the shaft and get some extra room. I used that on my swap and it was really easy.

    frame connectors

If the body is straight and square and not sagging you can put it up in the air with jackstands with the weight on the suspension. If the body is sagging you can hang the front or rear off the jackstands and weld in the connectors to get rid of the sag.

    early a traction bars

I can drive my car to the track too......but with the times I am running I can break very easy and I don't feel like waiting for someone to pick me up. Just because I trailer it to the track doesn't mean it's a trailer queen......you take your chances being an iron man and driving to the...

    early a traction bars

That is the cheapest for the time being......I think Just Suspensions carries one that is threaded with a jamb nut......they allows a much finer and better air-gap adjustment and the pin type that MP sells. I know I had to modify my MP one to get the gap right.

    torsion bars

I had to replace mine cause one of them broke......while it was sitting in the garage thank god......I woke up and went out side to take the car to work that day and noticed it leaning.......turned out the driver's side bar was in two pieces. I replaced the /6 bars with new /6 bars.

Not a can of worms......just a "warm discussion" that ended getting some very good info out there and the truth straight from Calvert.....I just wish I would have asked them sooner and not have had the smart *** tone.....but I am a smart *** so I guess it's natural. That's the goal of these...

I really think that the more power you put the the ground and the faster you are running you will have a problem......but his might be tire pressure or shock settings......tire pressure has a lot to do with the launch.

    early a traction bars

I don't have a problem apologizing....and I want to provide as much accurate info as possible too.....I do see how they can react with each other when you look at cars on the track with each system.......however like you said the physics are the same.....and I apologize for anything personal I...

    early a traction bars

Well here is the answer from the horses mouth.....and I have some crow to eat: "No, they can be used with the SS Spring, We just see better results with a mono leaf spring due to a 50lb. weight saving and better weight transfer." Travis @ Calvert Racing I will be the first to admit I...

    early a traction bars

I will pull out my MP Chassis manual out and get the info they provide for SS springs.....I will at least post the page number that it is on I am not sure if I can scan it or not. SS springs cause the rear of your car to raise up, which forces the rear tires down and adds traction. The CalTracs...

    early a traction bars

I just e-mailed Calvert racing asking why if they can be used together and if not why.....we'll get the answer direct from the horses's mouth...hopefully that is enough of an answer for you....if not that is to bad...I am done with you on this subject and will not respond to anything you...

Not at all...just wondering why you claim to have something when you don't....why should anyone believe you when you lie in your own sig? If you are so intelligent then why don't you explain to the mass audience why they work together and how each system works seperatly? Why don't you actually...

    early a traction bars

What didn't I explain......MP Performance states in their Chassis manual that the SS springs raise the rear of the vehicle to plant the rear tires and the thicker front on the springs reduces the axle wrap.....the Cal-Tracs transfer the load to the tires causing the rear to squat.....one raise...

If you made your own bars and they are so different then why does your sig say you are running Cal-Tracs?

    early a traction bars

I'm not getting into this discussion with you again.....I explained myself once in a thread before: http://www.forabodiesonly.com/mopar/showthread.php?t=8130 Calvert Racing doesn't want their bars used with SS springs cause they react differently....I'm not going to argue with someone who...

    early a traction bars

I started the same way you are going.....stock springs with a snubber....and now I am running Cal-Tracs with the stock springs and soon the split mon-leafs. No you will not want to use the snubber with Cal-Tracs. Save your money on the slapper type bars....they do nothing on Mopars.
  26. D

    early a traction bars

You should only be using stock leaf springs or split mono type leaf springs with a Cal-trac type traction bar.....if you are using the SS springs then a pinion snubber is the only thing needed. IIRC a manual trans requires a different air-gap than an auto trans on the snubber to floor pan...
