It's high on most of the "lists" plenty of zinc for old flat tappet cams, anti foaming additive for hi rpm, thinner oil cools better especially the valve springs, rockers, bearing and drains back...

They lowered the zinc in diesel, but it's still much higher than your regular oil.

For that engine in So Cal I would use 15/40 rotella hi detergent and still has hi zinc!

The VR1 usually goes on sale at autozone and napa plus other stores in April ranging right around $4 a quart. I'll give a heads up this spring!

Why not just use valvoline VR1 it has plenty of zinc for performance cams with stiff springs. You can get it in 10/30 and 20/50.

Oil filter after running even a few seconds should be full of oil, you could take a valve cover off and start it you should see oil at the rockers within a few to 5 seconds, if not you have a problem

If You are running hi spring psi you need a good oil like VR1, or royal purple race type oil. I would break it in with VR1 and a zinc additive then after the break in you should be fine with just a good race oil.
