    318 to 340

We have one. It's a 68 318 block bored out to a 340. If I remember correctly, it has stock 340 heads on it and a Mopar 484 cam in it. The thing runs awesome. It came in a parts car and the guy told us what it was and we didn't believe him, until we tore it done and sure enough it was a stock...

340 Cam Change - Lunati vs. Comp.

onetorun, thanks for posting, that is very good to know. My question is, what did you do with the heads? Did you keep them stock? What about springs and rockers? I'm trying to figure out exactly what I need to do with my stock heads. I have J heads with the big valves, same as the X heads...

340 Cam Change - Lunati vs. Comp.

haha I don't have a head guy...I'm learning all about it from you guys! :-) I want to make sure I know exactly what I'm talking about before I trust anyone touching my heads. So lets say I want to use the Lunati 60403, and I get the correct springs, and get the correct machining done...

Edelbrock RPM Air-Gap Polished vs. Natural

CudaChick...the 6-pack manifold that you posted a picture of, is that powder coated or just polished? If coated, what color/finish is that? That is what I want, something that shiny!!! Please give me more information on something like this. Thank you

340 Cam Change - Lunati vs. Comp.

Wow they are really nice. How will the 1.6 rockers change my setup from stock (which are about 1.5)?? Would I be able to use those Heavy Duty OEM style rockers?

340 Cam Change - Lunati vs. Comp.

I would love to go with a roller setup...that will just get way too expensive. Then I have to get a roller cam and lifters and the whole nine yards. I looked on the Hughes website. Would I be able to use their heavy duty OEM style steel rockers? (HUG #1408) Can I use my current factory...

Edelbrock RPM Air-Gap Polished vs. Natural

Thank you for all the info on powder coating. Does anyone have a polished intake straight from Edelbrock? I would like to see pictures of a polished intake before I decide on powder coating.

340 Cam Change - Lunati vs. Comp.

I definitely don't want to take the risk of putting a pushrod through a stock rocker. What rockers can I use then??

Edelbrock RPM Air-Gap Polished vs. Natural

Thank you for the pics. That looks really nice. Powercoating is an option too, about how much would that cost? I like the polished because of the shiny "chrome" look, but yet I don't recall ever seeing one on a car.

Edelbrock RPM Air-Gap Polished vs. Natural

After discussions over the last 2 days. I have decided to go with the Edelbrock RPM Air-gap. I really like the look of the polished and i'm sure it will stay alot cleaner than the natural aluminum. I'm willing to spend the extra money, but I want to make sure its worth it. I would like...

340 Cam Change - Lunati vs. Comp.

OK..back to the subject of this post..there has been alot of talk over the last few days about cams and intakes. I need to know about the heads. As I mentioned before, I'm going to be using stock 340 X heads. I was prepared to change the springs as needed for the cam I choose, however I...

340 Cam Change - Lunati vs. Comp.

Honestly its because I was talking with someone about it, who does work on engines and they felt with my setup, a little more duration would work well. I think an important factor here too is that I have a 4 spd. I don't want too high of a power range for the street. I need instant get up...

340 Cam Change - Lunati vs. Comp.

stroked340, I was referring to your response, sorry i misunderstood you. I think I have pretty much ruled out the comp cam at this point. Leanly toward the Lunati, however I did look into Hughes, but the Hughes cams seem to have higher lifts with lower durations, and I was looking for the...

340 Cam Change - Lunati vs. Comp.

Wow I'm really making progress here. I love it!! The last thing I want is problems obviously! If I need to change rockers, I would be ok with that, but what are some suggestions for rockers?? Should I stick with 1.5?? Would I benefit from 1.6?? What brands??

340 Cam Change - Lunati vs. Comp.

What do you mean the new Fast rate cams? Which companies are you referring to? I want to change the cam, the motor needs it for what I want. What company do you suggest using?

340 Cam Change - Lunati vs. Comp.

684mulas, thanks for the offer but i'm going to go with all new parts this time around. The car and motor were built when I was 15yo in 1994. My dad and I built it on a budget and used what we had. Plus Dad didn't want me having anything too nuts back then. HAHA...good call on his part! The...

340 Cam Change - Lunati vs. Comp.

Thank you to everyone for their opinions. I'm glad I have heard from people who have actually had these cams in their car. My next question is regarding the heads. Will I be ok with simply changing the springs and still using stock rockers, push rods etc.??? The car ran 14 flat @ 99mph...

340 Cam Change - Lunati vs. Comp.

The reason i'm asking for opinions, is because I was told a single plane and the comp cam combo would be better for me on the street. The thought for the cam was more duration, more power down low, and less lift, more friendly.

340 Cam Change - Lunati vs. Comp.

So you think the dual plane intake is better for me?? I see ALOT of people using the RPM air gap. I would like the car to be as lethal on the street as I can get with what I want to change. I can't afford to get into aftermarket/alum. heads or anything. If I do take it to the track, do...

The plan is to use stock rockers and change the springs as needed.

340 Cam Change - Lunati vs. Comp.

I have a 71' Duster with a 340 and a 4spd, and I'm looking to do a cam change. The 340 is bored .030 with 10.5 compression. Heads are stock mopar X heads. The plan is to retain the heads and do a mild port job. As far the intake, either switching to single plane Edelbrock Torker II or Dual...
