Getting started on a 470 stroker, what carb ?

I had a Pro systems 950 carb on my BBC , was the biggest pile of crap i ever owned. It went with the car when i sold it. Plus Patrick has no customer service skills. It took me a while to sort out all his mistakes on that carb.

local engine builder had spun both intakes out of the box on the dyno on the same combos and has made more power with the Eddy intake every time. I have seen some stuff make more power on the dyno, yet the other combo got down the track better faster etc. Just goes to show you never know till...

    Carb Selection

Thats a pretty small cam for that motor. I have a bigger solid lifter flat tappet cam in my 426 low deck, 383 with 440 crank. The 850 will be more than enough for whats there. Get a carb with 4 corner idle, and make sure you run a power valve on the primary side. Your deal at 6000 rpm works out...

A 670 Is a pretty large carb for a 318 even with a big cam. I have one on my 355 sbc that makes 350 hp, and i feel its a bit too big. It...

Fuel system good enough for 525 hp?

At 525 hp you need a pump that will flow 52 GPH, then take into account gravity and resistance to flow. If you are at the track and the car is hooking hard, the fuel pump has to work that much harder to get the fuel to the carb. Most carbureted systems work at around 5.5-7.5 psi, so you need...

    -6AN or -8An fuel line?

Never said i was running or needed to run an 8AN. You will need to buy an aftermarket fuel cell in order to run an 8an fitting. Or weld on a fuel drop box with 8 an fitting to the factory tank.

    -6AN or -8An fuel line?

I have a 3/8 pickup in my stock tank and a 6AN line from the back up to the carb. I make 525 hp at the flywheel, and my car doesn't miss a beat. As long as your fuel pump can supply the volume of fuel needed to feed your motor, the 3/8 or 6an will be fine.

    Fuel problem...need help

If its getting hot and doing it, i an thinking you're getting vapour locked. Once the car cools down, and if you open the gas cap up and close it again will the car start? At what point does the car start again? Is there at least a 3/8 fuel line from the tank to the pump and up to the carb.

    Idle to WOT issue

You are either getting too much fuel or not enough. I would make sure the jetting is the same as your old carb, and put the 28 squirters on the new carb start from there. try to mirror the old carb as much as possible.

When you do the fuel calculation, i only require 44 Gallons per hour. So i would think a 110 pump would fit the bill. My engine builder's wife street car, has a 625 HP 355 SBC with crossram dual carbs, and its fed by an old holley Blue pump.
