    More disc brake questions

Get ahold of Cass at Doctordiff.com. When I was talking with him about my options for my Barracuda, he said he could get me rotors with my small bolt pattern, then when I switch everything to big bolt pattern, I would just have to switch out the rotors. It's possible that he has a big bolt...

67 Barracuda front brake drums, Alignments and tires

Understandable! For the record, you CAN separate the hub from the drum, at least on my '67. Problem is the lug studs are swaged to capture the drum, so you need to cut the swage off before pressing them out of the hub or you'll ruin the hub. I've heard of people using the right size hole saw, or...

67 Barracuda front brake drums, Alignments and tires

Another thing you could look into is to contact Cass at Doctor Diff. I'm looking at converting over to big bolt pattern and disc brakes up front, but can't afford to do it all right now. He said he can get me a disc brake conversion for the front that has small bolt pattern rotors. Then when I'm...

Which disc brake conversions have others used

I have talked to Cass at Dr Diff about this. I bought one of his disc brake conversions for my Charger, but that was already the big bolt pattern (BBP) 5x4.5. I asked him about kits for my Barracuda, and told him I would need to hold off for a while do to cost of not only the conversion kit...

How can I separate the wheel hubs from the drums?

I had the same issue with my '67 Barracuda. The factory swaged the lug studs just outside of the drums, which holds the drum to the hub. I was told they did this to aid in assembly as the could install the drums and hubs in one assembly. On mine, I was able to lay the drum on my work bench and...

How can you check the spindel's

I don't know the width and backspacing of my rallye wheels. I would assume 5.5" or 6" width, and am assuming about a 3.5" backspace, but would have to pull them off and measure to confirm. They were on the car when I bought it, and I've never really had a reason to measure. Cass recommended...

How can you check the spindel's

Yeah,... I was kind of surprised too. I was telling him I was holding off on doing the full BBP swap because of the cost of front kit, rear kit, axles, then having to buy new wheels and tires for the big bolt pattern. His reply was: "You could run my Stage 1 front disc brake kit with a pair of...

How can you check the spindel's

Dr Diff offers his conversion kits with either the small bolt pattern rotors or big bolt pattern. I was contemplating it for my Barracuda. He said he can get me a small bolt pattern setup for now, then when I have the cash to do the rear in big bolt pattern conversion, all I would have to do up...

How can you check the spindel's

I would suggest getting ahold of Dr Diff and talk to them about a kit. He will be able to tell you what all you need to convert from drums to discs on your car. DoctorDiff Drivetrain Components

    Master Cylinder to firewall question

You might check with Detroit Muscle Technologies. They make about every body gasket you can think of. I just looked for you, but didn't see anything on their website for master cylinder gasket. Might be worth emailing them though if it's a simple foam gasket. It was still worth checking though...

67 Barracuda front brake drums, Alignments and tires

What do you consider wide? I only ask because the only tire size reference I am seeing on this thread is mine about my 225/60-14 on the front and 245/60-14 on the back, and 66fs saying he ran 195/55R -15. I wouldn't really call any of those wide. Just to clarify,.... You do know that tire with...

67 Barracuda front brake drums, Alignments and tires

Yeah,... lot of information on there. Main points are the caster (+4.90 left, +4.89 right), Camber (-.89 left, -.90 right), Toe-in (.14 degrees left, .13 degrees left). Steering wheel is off .27 degrees. Camber of rear wheels are -.02 degrees left and -.1 degrees right. Rear toe is -.22 degrees...

67 Barracuda front brake drums, Alignments and tires

Something to consider,... alignment machines set toe by degrees, not a fractional measurement like 1/16" or 1/8". I calculated degrees for my diameter of tire and 1/16" is about .14 degrees. In my post above, you'll see they got my toe set to .14 and .13. Close enough for me. You likely won't...

67 Barracuda front brake drums, Alignments and tires

I see the issue. Looks like you have positive camber and negative caster. That's how the factory originally set them up for bias ply tires. With modern radials, you want negative camber and as much positive caster as you can get (within reason). I will attach what my alignment settings were, but...

67 Barracuda front brake drums, Alignments and tires

Mine too. Do you know where everything was set on the alignment? (meaning what the final Camber, Caster, and Toe were set to) If they set it to factory specs, it was for bias ply tires and may explain how it's handling. What exactly are you fighting? Does it pull, wander, or what?

67 Barracuda front brake drums, Alignments and tires

Mine are the same as the black one. I was going to grind the swege (swelled area) off the studs, but I plan to replace with disc brakes soon, so I haven't messed with it. Basically, the factory studs had a swell to them to hold the drum onto the hub. You need to cut or grind that off to make the...

    What is this for?

They're to put around your wrist to remind you to bleed the brakes! Just giving you grief Batman! :) I've seen them in kits too and don't know what they are for.

    8.75 Rear End Drum Brakes

Yep,... What Blu said. Seems to me, when I talked to Cass at Doctor Diff about changing my '67 Barracuda to big bolt pattern, he told me the same thing and said I'd have to get new brakes because of the axle sticking out further. They sell a 10x2 1/2 brake assembly there (for $350) that comes...

    Rear drum to disc conversion??

Wilwood is good stuff, but from what I have seen, the prices reflect that too. Prices at Dr. Diff seemed more reasonable. The standard 10.7" disc kit starts at $600, the 11.75" kit starts at $650. Price goes up a little from there depending on if you want new lug studs, drilled and slotted...

    Rear drum to disc conversion??

Don't know what it's for, but I second the suggestion for Doctor Diff. I have bought quite a bit of stuff from him. He is extremely knowledgeable and helpful.

    Sbp to bbp

I just pulled up the page on DrDiff site and right above the "Rotors" option you show in your attached picture is where you choose your options for balljoints. You can add the upper adapters I mentioned, Bolts & Nuts for lower big ball joints, and bigger balljoints, or just click the last option...

    Sbp to bbp

Call or email Cass at Doctor Diff. He can talk you through it all. I can say that I looked at doing the BBP conversion, and switch to discs at the same time. He was able to tell me everything I needed. I can't say for sure on yours, but on mine, I needed to switch to the bigger lower ball joint...

    8.75 brakes

I could be wrong, but I looked into converting to the big bolt pattern axles on the back of my Barracuda. I was going to get a new set of drums and have them redrilled to accept the big bolt pattern. Problem was nobody makes the 10x2" drums anymore to have redrilled. His suggestion was to...
