    V8 swap and Hooker headers

I left my mounts loose at the frame until after I got the headers on and positioned right to give me clearance on everything. lifted and pried the engine back and forth to get the fit I wanted then tightened up the big nuts from the bottom

    Best "no problem installing/clearance header

I have hookers on my 340 dart , automatic and it has Ps and it's fairly tight. I'm sure manual steering will have more room to work with. Had to unhook the drag link and take the big nut off from the motor mounts , and they slid right in with some time and care full maneuvering . One tip put...

I'd run just one 2 1/2 inch pipe and muffler myself. Cheaper and less weight , less weight means faster too

    Hollow Thrush Mufflers (vintage?)

Back in the 70's there weren't many performance mufflers , the thrush were cheap and did help performance. In their day they were the best alternative short of going open headers. And so what they were light that doesn't mean they didn't work:finga:

    Hollow Thrush Mufflers (vintage?)

On a side note I had a 70 coronet R/T 440 six pack back around 1979 and it had two of the thrush mufflers which exited in front of the rear tires. Had a neighbor who was about 8 years older than me and was a sadistic bully to me all the time when I was younger. He bought a house around the...

    Hollow Thrush Mufflers (vintage?)

I had them on different cars over the years , but when I got past 20 they were discarded for newer technology. Have you seen what they want for those old thrush mufflers now , even the used ones. They are asking over $100 plus shipping on ebay and getting it. Was looking for one to hang in...

    Exhaust exit location

I like mine out the back. 2 &1/2 in pipe up over the axel with springs moved into frame rails took the exhaust shop awhile to get it done , looks like a work of art. Absolutely no rattles, Ralph's Mufflers Indianapolis

    Best Sounding SB Mopar Ever

I use to love the sound of my 70 coronet R/T 440 six pack with the thrush mufflers that looked like big soup cans and came out the side. But that was 1980 and I was 19

TTI shorty headers PROBLEM WILL NOT FIT

A small clearancing ding won't hurt your performance , if you were worried about performance you would have bought full length headers. And no one is ever gonna see the ding any way. I would have atleast tried double aluminum percy's gaskets before I sent them back. Old cars are a pain and...

TTI shorty headers PROBLEM WILL NOT FIT

Personally I would have modified the headers to fit, then at least it would be done and on the engine. Now you are in limbo for an unknown time

    69 dart header problems

I have big tube hookers on my 69 340 dart and they are tight on the ps side but they do fit with out hitting anything. I'd say it must be caused by the motor mounts Not to sound stupid but you did take the drag link apart and put it thru the headers , just fishing for an answer not saying...
