    I always put it with the beveled side outside myself and the rounded side in. Here is a picture of the original tank from my 1970 duster and it looks that way too

    I'd put a box end wrench on it and use a big hammer , hitting it lightly letting the weight work for you. Hold the intake on it's side so the blow will be going down , preferably with some one holding the intake and you holding the wrench and hammer
