Yes interesting but the distributorless ignition system still looks like a distributor to me. I like the concept behind it though. $600 clams is a lot of dough for an "unproven/non-mainstream" component like this.

You should be able to use the harness but I see some modifications being necessary due to certain components being in different locations.

I believe they come with everything (incl. ends) for a specific application but do not come with bulkheads. I haven't checked in awhile but maybe they sell the bulheads seperately.

Physically, they will all bolt up and be functional but when it comes to timing marks, there are three separate covers, '68 (no cast-in timing marks/uses a bolt-on pointer), '69 (timing marks cast-in on passenger side) & '70-up (timing marks cast-in on driver's side). I remember mentioning this...

I believe there are wires (w/eyelets) that come out of the wiring loom and ground to the radiator support.

You will be happier with the orange box. The chrome box is meant for a motor that constantly sees a higher rpm range.

I agree. I would not be opposed to having something like this depending on the actual range of the vehicle, its purchase price, its expected maintenance costs and if I could stuff myself into it.

There's always wind/water power (which I believe still use a smaller amount of fossils) but it will use whatever source fills up the grids. It's one of those products that doesn't get us away from being 100% independent on traditional sources but lightens the burden/demand.

First of all, put the steering column and brake master & booster back where they belong. ;) I am not 100% sure but I think you may have an option with another cap. You may want to check MSD's website and if that fails, email their tech support.

63dartman, before you buy a cap and rotor, let me take a look in the garage. I seem to remember coming across a Mallory dist. cap box but can't remember if it had a Mallory or stock cap in there. Feel free to PM tomorrow as a reminder.

I haven't used one for many years due to the fact that the "eye" would constantly burnout and the cost to replace it (approx. $65 many years ago) was getting to me. Otherwise, when it did run, it ran well.

I use to run Mallory Unilites and HyFires back in the 80's but had consistent problems with the pickup/eye burning out and at $70-$80/pop, I couldn't afford to continue on. Over the years, I have had good luck with Mopar's orange box on several cars (never had one burn out). For the go fast...
