I'm not... but you are still wrong. Don't be hung up about it though. I have had many others tell me I was wrong. They too found out the hard way. Many a checkered flag in this compound. Once you understand what scavenging exhaust pipes do you'll do fine.

What ever.... 2.5" is all you will ever need on a street car. Hell even the 426 Hemi came from the factory with 2.5" exhaust pipes.

Suggestions Wanted For 408 Stroker Mufflers

Flowmaster mufflers are over rated. Plus the drone noise is awful. Plus there is no reason to run anything more than 2 1/4 on the street but everyone wants bigger is better. 2 1/2 fits ok but not really needed. I'm sure this statement will lite up many :poke: To each their own. But the OP did ask.

    Header's for a 67 cuda with a 360 magnum block.

For a street car I would definitely stick to manifolds. There are a few good threads with part numbers that will work quit well.

    Header's for a 67 cuda with a 360 magnum block.

Use the "Search", there are lots of options. Headers are a PITA in and A body.

    68-70 Manifolds on 72 340?

I understand where you are coming from. I got tired of the noise and drone as well. Do the exhaust first. I did and stayed with my 3.55 gear. Also If it is an automatic the correct converter stall helps a lot as too.

    68-70 Manifolds on 72 340?

You will be fine. I run a set with more engine than you listed and it has W2 heads on it. I got tired of fussing with headers. Got manifolds and opened the ports so they where as close as I could get them. I can not tell a difference at all. Did I leave a few HP's behind? Sure but I can not tell...

    Exhaust Manifold Repair

That can be fixed. You'll need to find someone that can braze an exhaust manifold or they can stick weld it. It will need to be preheated and prepped but is doable. No I don't know anyone close to you but don't give up. You may have to lose the preheat valve. The crack looks like it goes into...

    318 exhaust port differences

"A" body street car. I'd use the manifolds. Headers on these cars can be a PITA. Just my 2 cents.

    Flowmaster Flowfx sound on 340

I put flowmasters on one of my A body cars. I hated them. They sounded good outside the car but it droned so bad inside it sounded like a helicopter was in my back seat.

    magnum manifolds

To the OP, if it's going into a 4x4 just make it fit. There is no room in those trucks anyway. Sounds like it going to be street driver? You won't gain much between 2" and 2.5" as there is a lot of **** to get around. I'd keep it simple. Anything Dakota 4x4 is a pain to work on. If I remember...

    magnum manifolds

^^^ A bodies are the worst ^^^ Lots of room in an E body. They run damn good but yea the exhaust system can be a bit of a battle.

    magnum manifolds

This is what I did on one of my "A" body cars because headers can be a pain in the a$$ on a street car. 2" just enough to get past the steering then it necks up to 2.5" the rest of the way back. I'm running 318 manifolds that were opened up as much as possible. Runs great too!

What exhaust manifold gasket for slightly pitted 340 manifold

Use a header gasket. Mr.Gasket copper ones work great.

Not an A body issue - 2006 Grand Caravan 3.3 EGR Valve

Try an OEM one maybe it will last longer. But we used to hang a **** load of them at the dealership when those were still under warranty.

Those universal " X pipe kits"....

Building the x pipe was easier than getting the tail pipes even. LOL

Those universal " X pipe kits"....

I run a 2.5" Summit pipe on my A body small block and it fit great. Doesn't hit anything. Not a lot of room under there for a 3" pipe.

    exhaust system options

A good muffler shop will be your cheapest route. But it will rot out in a couple of years.

Which exhaust manifold works? Went from 318 to 360. 1970 Duster

You know you can also open up the 318 manifolds. Good for a street car.
