A body with an A833 and a Gear Vendor installed

Installed a GV in 2009 when this Hemi Duster was built. I would do it again, a simple toggle on the right front of the bucket seat brackets engages the overdrive for highway (over 55mph) driving. 29.75" tall rear tires / 4:30 gear / 2450 rpm @ 65mph....the sweat spot. The split shifting isn't...

Thinking about a Gear Vendors OD. Can Anybody Give Some Guidance?

I have had one behind the Passon aluminum 833 / street Hemi in my Duster for over a decade. After initially driving around doing the split-shift thing, that got shelved and now is only used on the expressway where I am going over 60MPH. Small mod (cutting ,no BFH) to the trans tunnel to keep...

    Removable floor hump.

The California Flash has one held in with Dzus fasteners.....pics in thread below, starts @ post 163. Turning back the clock I'm doing one in my latest street build, but this one will be a bolt-in.

Complete 4 speed install with rods and shifter

to some degree these cars were not overengineered...what was the simplest, least expensive way to build it was done. That said, the simplicity combined with the strength of the unibody construction still amazes me.

    HYD. CLUTCH KIT THOUGHTS ?

for what is is worth, for me on non clearance issue installs, I am a fan of the (tweeked) OEM clutch linkage, but it sure is great to have the hydraulic option when needed. One downside to the hydraulic set is there is virtually no adjustment. You get what you got......but maybe that is a good...

    Hurst street super shifter

I bought the reverse arm from Shifter Doctor. Of course, it was straight until I attacked it with my little arbor press and a round socket. Not sure of the part number, but they have several lengths of straight arms to choose from. Just get out your tape measure. looking thru their site, I...

    Hurst street super shifter

The arms I pick up at swap meets and e-bay but could easily add a sleeve to a Hurst standard straight arm / rod. The adapter could possibly be an off the shelf item but just not the demand to fabricate the minimum (12) and impossible to recoup the expense / time involved to sell one-offs.

    Hurst street super shifter

done several in 67-76 A bodies. This one is in Butch Leals street Duster. Fabbed a 1/2" thick aluminum bracket to raise the shifter approx. 1" and run the reverse rod OVER the trans cross member. Not a Hurst Super Shifter but Hurst Competition Plus with the re-enforced rods (same /...

    clutch pedal binding?

After lowering the Hemi about 2" (as far as I could without major disassembly) I was able to slide the trans w/ GV od unit rearward about 5-1/2" before it would not go any further but still needed at least another inch to get the throw-out bearing off, so I decided to do the best I could with...

    clutch pedal binding?

I've narrowed it down to the throw-out bearing likely NFG. Was hoping for a "easier" fix, but I have come to the conclusion as the throw-out bearing builts heat, it begins to stick on the input shaft. to replace the throw-out, I like to replace the transmission bolts with long studs that allow...

    clutch pedal binding?

A-Ok cold, I can even get a small wiggle out of the throw-out.....next step is with heat after a drive and while it is still "sticky" .Cannot imagine it could swell enough to cause an issue...but I have been wrong before (just ask my wife) thanks

    clutch pedal binding?

you guys have all given me great food for thought. first step will be remove the inspection cover to observe operation and fitment...cold second step....same thing but after I drive it around a bunch I'm still suspicious of the clutch pedal shaft simply because it seemed to me that was where...

    clutch pedal binding?

clutch function is great, linkage feels sticky when driveline gets heat....unhooked from the clutch fork / arm...smooth as silk even when hot. no noise.... nothing.

    clutch pedal binding?

I agree....you would think once gulled....it would stay galled. whatever it is, it must be very slight...as it cools it goes away, overnight and it is completely gone.

    clutch pedal binding?

This makes the most sense....but I can reach it and thought it had all kinds of slop. I'll get a helper to activate the pedal while I watch they the inspection opening from the underside. Gotta be something that a wee bit of expansion from heat is causing the stickiness

    clutch pedal binding?

no noise from throwout.....it acts and sounds like a worn or no pedal bushing, but everything is new / fresh including new brass pedal bushings.....and why would they be effected by heat?....... they are in the cabin under the dash? thanks for the replies

    clutch pedal binding?

looking for help.....as I get 10 minutes or so into a normal drive, the pedal starts feeling like something is sticking somewhere in the pedal / linkage. If I disconnect the linkage, everything independently moves perfect. It appears as the drive line warms up, it starts to creak/ groan and...

    Gear Vendor and 833

My Hemi is slightly forward to allow the factory Hemi valve cover to clear the factory A/C components, mostly the blower motor. Additionally, my car was an automatic, so I added the 4-speed hump which may or may not be in the exact factory location. While the GV came with an A-body adapter, I...

    A833 4 Speed Problems.

Check the air gap between the clutch disc and pressure plate when the pedal is fully depressed. Needs to be a minimum .060 I had bent / modified my clutch cross- shaft and was only getting .040......shifted fine when cold, but as things got warm / hot and expanded the gap decreased even...

A shout out to Shifter Doctor

He is my "go-to" source for anything Hurst. I have learned that by the time I buy the "as-is" and recondition it, I'm in as deep ($$$$) if not deeper than the good (Shift) Doctor. for Butch Leals street Flash.....from the Shift Doctor

    A855 - 5 Speed

I'm tryin...........(sorry for the hi-jack) was a small block / automatic ....with a few holes in the floorboards. The choices of the 572 Hemi, A855 transmission, wheels/ tires , Street Lynx / Ford 9" differential, 3" exhaust and trim are all the owners picks.....I just made it happen...

    A855 - 5 Speed

maybe you skipped over it..... but I noted that I WAS able to run the (electrical) harness OUTSIDE the interior. My point was for those with a cable that do not want to incorporate a hard 90 degree bend, entering the cabin thru the trans tunnel at the point of the speed-o hook up instead of...
