    Stock 340 dyno tests?

Does anyone know for sure if NHRA had a dedicated dyno facility and where it was located? I just wonder if they had/have something like NASCAR.

    Stock 340 dyno tests?

I know what a non-stock 340 can do. So what. I watched the dyno needle go over 600 horsepower with Dad's T/A blocked 357ci/340 back in the NASCAR 1970's. But it sure wasn't factory stock as Cale Yarborough couldn't pass it on the back straight at Riverside. I've seen one person reference a...

    Stock 340 dyno tests?

I haven't driven a stock 340 since 1969 so it's difficult for me to remember just how fast the '69 Dart really was. Today I began some searches for some stock 340 dyno tests. Here are two I hope that may shed some light on the 340 output. #1stock to modified Note how #2 was built to stock...

    Only 460hp

As far as I know the owner never has put it on the strip. Lots of street racing. What I do know is, that every time I opened up the cross sectional area of the intake port on the cylinder head, the power went up on the dyno. So it appears to me the header wasn't the bottleneck to that point...

    Only 460hp

When I installed the RHS-X heads that flowed in excess of 300 cfm was it the 1-5/8 x 1-3/4 TTI headers that limited the 424ci/360 to 620+ HP?

The 1-5/8 x 1-3/4 TTI step headers? Have you ever personally used those headers?

    Engine Build For 1970 Duster

Man good going. You have been making 400 HP 360 recommendations for 18 years. I just came from a post in 2004 where you were doing the same thing. MOPAR CHAT, 03-05-2004, around 11:00 AM I believe.

Gotta say I just build what I want to build without input from anyone. I don't design engines for anyone and just report how I build mine. I don't tell anyone else what they need. Have iron headed 360 based pump gas engines from 7.5:1 to 11.3:1 that make 260-620 horsepower normally aspirated...

    Compression Ratio

Yeah, i had to think back many years. Same intake and carburetor as the 360, stock compression ratio 318 bottom end, mildly ported 360 heads, 273 adjustable rocker arms and a Comp Cams 270S solid flat tappet camshaft. Sounded like a big block when we opened the headers.

    Highest flowing sbm heads?

Yep. J.Rob described it correctly. And that was in 2015. The price would be more than that today if we would even consider doing a set. NOT!

    Highest flowing sbm heads?

    Hey J.Rob, Yes I bought set of them in 2010 and did a little work with them off and on until 7 years ago (2015). 2.05/1.625 valves, 250 cfm @ .400, 304 cfm @ .600". We used them on a 424.5ci/360 at 10.9:1 compression with a 258/260 solid roller, .680"/.688", 110 LSA 107 ICL. 572 LB-FT @ 4,800...

    302 head progress and questions

Come on guys. You do a rough in valve job because the VJ is the guide to the throat and bowl porting. Then you do a finish valve job and final very light porting touch up. This procedure is moot if you are a CNC machine.

We pretty much warmed it up, checked for oil leaks and fluid levels and pulled the trigger.

This will be worth watching. Hopefully more interesting things will come out of this build. When you start like this you get Cody running a direct spray oil bar to all 16 cam lobes on a 440.

Worth mentioning again I suppose. I don't think I've repeated it for a few years now....... Many years ago my Dad built engines for what is now the NASCAR Cup series. One day he poked me in the chest with his index finger and said, "Jimmy, there are three secrets to making horsepower. The...

Anyone build a high RPM 273 using 2.02 size head?

Actually they were INDY/RHS LAX heads modified to run the stud mounter rocker arms. The dyno contest the heads were used in required the use of the INDY/RHS iron heads.
