340 stock manifold to header adapter question

Now I see what your needing to do! You could see if an exhaust shop has some 2 1/4" two hole flanges that will bolt to your manifolds, and get them to weld you a piece of pipe to them in a way that you could hook to them. Places that do exhaust work always have stuff like that in a scrap pile...

340 stock manifold to header adapter question

Steve, if you have time to wait on your down pipes that fit the manifolds, maybe an exhaust shop could make you a flange to mate the 2 temporarily. If you have the flexibility to move the pipes a little bit on the run stand, you may be able to just buy a 2 1/4 to 2 1/2 inch pipe adapter at the...

    Header install question

They're milking it for all it's worth. 5 or 6 hours tops. If it's generally a Chevy shop, the 90 degree oil filter adapter probably has them in a tizzy.

    340 vs 360 confirmation

The 72-73 340 manifolds will work just fine, but make sure the drivers side is for an A body. Passenger side is the same between A, B and E bodies, but the drivers side is specific for A body cars. The only difference between a 68-70 drivers side 340 HP manifold and a 72-76 340/360 drivers side...

Installing headers -- While engine pulled or after re-installed?

Like others have said, if you're going to the expense to buy headers...get long tube ones. One thing that hasn't been mentioned, is since you have some good, big ol torsion bars and will have to use the BFH to make a little room, you might be better served to buy the headers raw steel and then...

Real talk: exhaust manifolds on 360 Dart

I used to own a 74 Duster with a stock 318 that I put el cheapo headers on. I eventually destroyed the headers on a road trip and had to saw them off with a hacksaw. I replaced them with a set of 340 A body manifolds from a 72 Duster 340 and noticed absolutely ZERO difference in performance...

    Unusual headers...to me at least

Those Appliance headers on the Challenger were the ones I learned to leave the end studs in the heads to keep from having to drain the coolant every time I had to replace header gaskets or a starter. If your starter takes a dump, you can take that slip tube off the #1 cylinder and replace the...

    Unusual headers...to me at least

:BangHead: Dang......it's been 44 years since I had that car, so I can't remember to save me! I wanna say no 90 degree adapter needed, but I'm not sure. Do you have a spare engine laying around that you could mock the passenger side header to and find out?

    Unusual headers...to me at least

Those are Appliance Headers. I had a set on a 73, 340 Challenger. Best el cheapo headers I ever had!

Calico did a set of TTI's for me that were originally the old nickel plate finish and turned blue as soon as I installed them. Pulled the car apart to restore it after a few years and took the headers to Calico. They did them inside and out. I put 15 or 20K miles on the car over the next 5 years...

After you're done beating and banging on them to get them to fit, take them up to Calico Coatings near Hickory, NC. It's about a 3 hour drive for you, and they have forgotten more about coating headers than Jet Hot knows! https://www.calicocoatings.com/index.php

Hooker super comp headers, removal tips for easy removal

I actually had to do that on the side of the road once, with a hack saw! I was 80 miles from home and turned down a dirt road to investigate a 69 Superbee sitting in the weeds. Caught the low hanging under the suspension cheap header tubes on a piece of metal sticking up in the grass, jammed em...

    Headers

The budget headers of any brand work fine as long as you don't have the front suspension set to be low to the ground. At normal ride height, the tubes that go under the suspension on the drivers side should still be high enough to clear speed bumps.

    Truck manifolds on Dart Sport?

That is correct. The spool mounts can't be shimmed up without a lot of cobbling to make it happen. If you use Dougs D453's and a mini starter as @TrailBeast suggested, you won't have any problems. I have gone to Autozone and bought 4 or 5 mini starters for a 92 Dodge B200 van with a 5.2 engine...

I used that same paint on the manifolds for my wife's Dakota with a 4.7 motor. I just ran mine thru the blast cabinet, and pretty much half assed did it compared to how careful and meticulous you were with yours. After 3000 miles of daily driver duty, they still look great! No flaking or...

    Mini Tub exhaust ideas wanted

There's plenty of room between the leaf springs and the frame rails to get tail pipes bent to go between them, and then run back on the outside of the frame rail. Any competent exhaust shop should be able to do that for you. Edit....go to the thread below, and look at Dubob's pics on page 1...

    Cyclone Fenderwell Header Instructions

Good Lord! That's a blast from the past.....lol. Back in the day, I hacked the fenderwells out of two or three 65 Barracudas to install Cyclone fenderwell headers. I was just a poor kid out in the sticks, with no torch or air tools, so I did it with a hammer and chisel. Not easy to do, and my...

    HEADER IDEAS

The TTI stepped headers should work great on your 408. Hedman used to make headers they called TorkStep headers. I put a set on a D300 with a warmed over 360 in it, and they worked awesome. They had the same size tubes as the TTI headers that fit your car. The step headers do a good job of...

    HEADER IDEAS

318willrun has the adapter also, and it looks like he had a mile of clearance. The TTI's are step headers, that start out with 1 5/8 tube, and then step up to 1 3/4. Dougs are 1 5/8 all the way. The TTI's have one slip tube on the drivers side to go around the torsion bar, but I don't think the...

$841 including tax. It was a wash on the price of the raw ones, then having to take them to Calico to be coated. I would have gotten a better coating job at Calico, but just don't have time to fool with it for a while.

I took my lazy butt to Google and looked....lol. D454's are 3/4 inch tubes, and fit early A's with an Alterkation front suspension. D453's are 5/8's tubes, and fit early A's with stock torsion bar front suspension.

Are you sure those are early A headers? The tubes look a little big. Is there a slip tube on the drivers side header?
