I ran a 16:1 box with fast ratio pitman idler for a few summers. I think it was 12 something to one. It wasn't horrible with skinny front tires and a big block under the hood. For reference a fast ratio p/s box is 14:1.

I had that combo for a while. It wasnt bad.

The best thing to do IMO is switch to the 73-76 centerlink/pitman/idler and run a 16:1 manual steering box. Much more room on the later setup

Can the OP post pics of the other UCA? Problem or no problem they should be checking that stuff. A dismissive or defensive attitude is not good customer service. Somebody needs to do the rod test on a car and see how those align. I was not under the impression the UCA bolts are on the same...

The tie rods and sleeves are interchangeable. To my knowledge no 73-76 center link is reproduced. Ithink I was able to use the 73-76 power steering idler arm on my 68 gts manual steering box. You will need to verify the pitman arm interchangeability.

They also make a 3/4 dd to round shaft if you simply need to adapt. I typically use flaming river joints however the offshore clones are looking better every decade.

Speedway sells nice replacements: Replacement Screw-In Ball Joint Dust Boot, K772 Application You can also buy them in a six pack. These boots also work well for steering column tube seals.

Every time I had wheel hop issues it was cured by shocks and shock tuning. No slapper bars, snubber or clamps required. Anything beyond that and I move to a Caltrac/mono setup.
