    340 with trans

    I saw that ad on Craig's List. Like said, check to make sure it is what he is advertising. He should be willing to pull a head (or both) to allow inspection of the bores and to check the heads. Even if it's .080 over it can be sleeved, but is that what you really want?

    ALL 340s except 68 four speeds used the same cam. Even today they are a great cam.

    Somebody tried to do a recurve and might have it bound up. The oval end of the one spring is normal. If you notice the springs are different strengths. If the end of the stronger one wasn't a slot the weaker one would do nothing.

    Gap - .014" to .019" (set wide to allow for wear) Dwell - one set - 27 to 32 degrees both sets - 37 to 42 degrees That's directly out of the '68 Dart service manual, but all the dual point distributors require about the same.
