    Duster clutch safety switch issue

Maybe these photos will help. I’ll try standing on my head again to see if I can tell how/where the switch is bolted in place. It’s a poor excuse…but wearing glasses makes it tough to see what I’m doing in that tight (and upside down) situation.

    Duster clutch safety switch issue

My reference to anti-theft is that when someone unfamiliar with the car pushes the clutch down - it won’t crank. You have to know to let the clutch pedal up a bit before it will crank.

    Duster clutch safety switch issue

If I don’t find a reasonably easy way to adjust this to where it will start when fully depressed - I’ll need to be prepared to by-pass the safety switch. Duster clutch safety switch issue

For years my clutch has needed to be up about an inch for the car to start. The safety switch is difficult to reach. Does anyone know what needs to be done to fix this? (It’s a nice theft proof feature but I worry about the day that it won’t start at all).

Seal question for Duster 3-speed Speedo gear holder

Oops! Sent photo before asking question. I just pulled the speedo gear and holder from my 71 Duster and I’m wondering if I need another seal. The orange seal looks good. There was some brittle black material at the outer edge that fell apart when the adaptor came off. I have not touched...

Tiny hand needed to connect speedometer cable in 71 Duster

Trailbeast - I stand amazed! I tried this and it worked! Couldn't get a perfect grip but was able to shove the cable hard enough to have it snap into place. Took the car around the block and it the speedometer works. This means that my odometer now works and I can keep track of when I need to...

Tiny hand needed to connect speedometer cable in 71 Duster

I've spent many hours over the past 45+ years standing on my head with my right arm squeezed under the dash trying to connect the speedometer cable to the back of the instrument panel. I'm guessing there's a much better way to do this - possible requiring the instrument panel to be pulled out...
