My "new" '74 Duster- or why I need a project like a hole in the head

Good for you, man. Those pictures dispel the myths some people have about how it never rains or snows here.

My "new" '74 Duster- or why I need a project like a hole in the head

Hmmm..... ....meaning you're building a shop in that exact location! Score!

    Identify this tranny?

Is that an A body case? I don't remember where the trans mount is compared to B and E.

    Mopowers' 66 Dart Build

A buddy of mine runs those through the dishwasher at home. Another one uses his clothes washer...the type for low water use that has no agitator. His harnesses come out looking amazingly clean.

That is so strange that you count down to solstice (December 21) because I do the exact same thing every year.

    Mopowers' 66 Dart Build

THIS time of year sucks ***. I hate it. You're right...the dudes up north dealing with sundown by 3:30 or 4:00 is even worse. For me, I have to struggle to do stuff in this time of year. Way to go with those door panels, Evan. By the way...The Brits that called them door cards.... No...

This picture is great..... That LF tire is almost off of the pavement.

You didn't state it but I'm guessing you had it painted? Looks nice.

    On the other hand

Uhhh..... $1000 to rebuild a transmission for a slant six? You can BUY a good used 318 and 904 for less than that. Holeeee crap! Are there no self serve junkyards near you? The 84-89 Diplomat-Gran Fury-Fifth Avenue cars had 318s, 999/904s with the low gear 1st and 2nd and can be pulled from...

    Factory door moldings or not

Were those factory or dealer installed? Regardless....I'm not a fan of them. I only own 2 door cars but maybe for a 4 door, they might fit the vibe better.

    Goodbye to the 80's!

Nobody drives a Yugo anymore, man. Those were disposable cars that didn't last 10 years. I get your point though, many critics don't have a classic car....they are loudmouth "experts" that never have any skin in the game or have the lowliest of low cars that only an idiot would own.

    Goodbye to the 80's!

Centerlines look like the 80s for sure. I don't think that I ever liked them. Oddly, I love slotted wheels, the cast finish Keystones and even Cragars. Ahhh, the styling of the 80s.... I love the chicks from that era though...the big hair, the thin stature. Many automotive trends that come and...

Well, ****...we agree on this, that is for certain.

Just as slow as before mods..

There were some huge engines that were built with just a 2 barrel carburetor. Didn't Buick, Olds or Pontiac put a 2 barrel on a 455? Our own Industrial 413 came with 2 barrel carburetors in HD trucks.

Just as slow as before mods..

The members here have been too polite. The way I see it, this is a clear example of the following: A fool and his money are soon parted. You spent money that you couldn't afford to lose on a car you didn't need and that you can't fix. You know little about cars, don't want to learn and don't...

Could this idea work ? Did other guys did this ? 318 infos

Using a 4 barrel intake and adding an adapter to use a 2 barrel carburetor makes as much sense as buying a hat that is too big and having your head surgically reduced in size to fit the hat.

    Dumpster diver 70 Duster build

I don't think anyone would have been offended. I just thought the build needed a more creative name. Your new name is great!

    Dumpster diver 70 Duster build

Those dirtbag scammers that beg for dollars in front of stores? Yeah.... I would have picked a different title for this build. I love Dusters and low dollar builds are cool but the name of this one is not good. Here are some different ideas: Low Dough show. Bare Bones Build. Jewish Man Plan...

    Mission Creep on a D-150

Looks good, Zack. "Mission Creep". Good term...I call it The Snowball Effect. The same principle applies though. What starts off simple gains momentum and ends up being far more involved that you ever expected. HEY...You now have almost the same amount of LIKES as posts!

72 Duster: You can lead a horse to water, but...

Wheels often make or break a car. I like the "Bullitt" wheels but they are pretty common. A polished outer with black center would look nice with the black stripes the car has.

72 Duster: You can lead a horse to water, but...

Yeah, It was a hard pill to swallow....admitting to myself that my hopes of having a car buddy in the family were fading fast. I decided to gather some seats to take to the upholstery guy. My 67 Dart had these buckets.... I have a few rear seat cores to pick from too. The upholsterer really...

72 Duster: You can lead a horse to water, but...

He signed over the title just past Christmas 2020. He was relieved to be done with it! The gas cap is attached with a plastic adapter that was once offered by a member of this forum.

72 Duster: You can lead a horse to water, but...

Back in 2007 when we got this car, they would still show up occasionally at the Pick-N-Pull yards. Small parts like door handles, screws, clips and such could be picked up cheap. I haven’t seen a Duster at a junkyard in years. I have some bucket seats that came from a 74 Valiant that originally...
