    Wheel and Tire Help

15x7 front wheels will work but you need at least 4.25 B.S. FYI, all factory Chrysler 15x7 wheels were produced with 4.25 B.S. Look for a wheel with a minimum of 4.25 B.S. 4.5 even better.(positive offset) As already mentioned, consider a 215/60x15 front tire. Your main point of interference is...

    Please help with Tire offset

This comes up so often, the info above ^^^ should be a sticky at the top of this section. When I converted my A-body 8-3/4 to shortened C-body axles, i carefully dropped a plumb bob to the garage floor and marked both sides. The bigger axles added exactly 3/8" to the track on both sides...

    Tire advice

I've been looking at wheels for my 68. Along with that, one has to consider tires. Tires and sizes I bought 2 and 5 yrs ago for my old cars are no longer available. Frustrating. I know a lot of guys would prefer good ol American brands like Goodyear, Firestone, etc. But they are not available...

    Rallye Wheels - Help Needed

SBP Rallye wheels were all 14 X 5-1/2 from the factory. No other sizes. The aftermarket has made other sizes available but it's almost a sure thing yours are factory. Yes, the caps have retention screws accessible with the wheel off the car. Lug sizes are only 7/16"-20 so they snap off easier...

    Tire Advice for 1968 Barracuda

Just this past week I've been seriously looking at new wheels for my 68 FB. Ironically, I'm considering Rodlites in the same size and BS you have. (Another is Billet Specialties Street Lite) But the tires would be more all around street cruiser size and not drag oriented. I'm currently running...

Modern skinny spare for older mopars

I do care. Glad to help out when I can. The standard 14" wheel on SBP Mopars was only 4-1/2" wide. The "big" 5-1/2" wide wheel came on HP and HD suspension cars. Basically, any car with a D70 or E70 tire.

Modern skinny spare for older mopars

It's in my 68 Barracuda and the spare tire cover sits flat on the floor. Note that earlier Cherokees had a 4.5 bolt pattern and matches my converted brakes. If your 71 has the original 4" B.P., this won't work for you. Anyone with the SBP can use a skinny 14" X 4-1/2" wheel with a skinny tire...

    Rally Wheel Cover Issue

You didn't say what bolt pattern you have. SBP use 7/16 studs and 3/4" across flats nuts. LBP use 1/2" studs and normally 3/4" AF nuts. BUT, there are 13/16" nuts out there that require a larger diameter socket and that might be your problem.

    Rallye wheel trim rings?

I distinctly remember the ads and cars without trim rings. The idea was to make a good looking, racy looking cars at an affordable price. Trim rings would add cost. But ugh! Those whitewalls on Rallyes! Remember the idea of the original Road Runner? Good go-fast mechanical goodies without the...

need help purchasing street radials for my 74 dart sport

I see no problem in the front. But, it sounds like you are mostly concerned with wheel lip clearance in back. You are forgetting, or don't know that the tires have to clear the leaf springs. Pretty sure 255-60 would be ok but a 275 may get into the leafs. Cheap fix is wheel spacers. A 255 also...

    1968 baracuda

68 Barracudas have the Small Bolt Pattern. (SBP) That's 5 on a 4" bolt circle. That severely limits wheel selection unless you convert to the more common Large Bolt Pattern. (LBP) Looks like you are a newby, asking the typical newly question. I thought the same thing when I bought my first...

    66 Dart GT wheel quandary

Here's my 64 with Rallyes. I have trim rings but they're extra weight and I spent a lot of time restoring the wheels and don't want to scratch them. I like them without the trim rings anyway.

    66 Dart GT wheel quandary

I have a 64 Valiant that had been off the road since 1981. It had "new" 13" tires on it but they were date coded 1980. (185/80R13) The tires still had perfect nubs on them and because the guy I bought the car from never got it running had zero miles on them. They were included by the original...

    Wheel colors

The standard SBP 14" wheel was 4-1/2" wide. Much more common than the wider wheel. The big wheel was 5-1/2" wide, standard on Formula S, 340 Darts, cars with HD suspension , etc. D70 or E70 tires always came with wide wheels. SBP Rallye wheels were all 5-1/2". A car with full wheel covers had...

    body color rims

They were body color so most likely same paint. Acrylic enamel in 60's. Cars with wheel covers had black wheels. So logically they used standard black wheels and face painted the front to match the body. Time was money so they weren't going to spend a lot of time on this with meticulous masking...

    Space Saver Spare

Sorry don't remember, car is in storage now. Whatever came in a 90's Cherokee. I consider it for emergency use only. Something to get off the Interstate, not drive hundreds of miles. It has a Sure Grip that can probably handle mismatched tire diameters for a short while. Wouldn't matter so much...

    Space Saver Spare

I use a space saver spare from a Jeep Cherokee. Not the current model, but the earlier ones. Think 1990's or so. 4.5 B.P. and it clears my 73-76 A-body front discs and 10 X 2-1/2 rear drums. Think I paid $10 at a junkyard for a never used rim and tire. Fits the a body spare tire well and the...

    14 by 5.5 vs 14 by 4.5 on a 67 barracuda ?

NO 67-69 Barracudas came with 13" wheels. Barracudas were considered by Chrysler to be a higher trim level than Darts. All Barracudas had 14"wheels. Interiors were also more "plush" than Darts. 14 X 4-1/2 standard. 14 X 5-1/2 standard on S cars and optional on others. Pretty sure disc brake...

confused with lug stud sizes. help

Something doesn't seem right. An 8-3/4 rear axle with only 9" drum brakes? Should be 10 x 1-3/4 if stock. Are you sure it's not a 7-1/4 rear? Anyway, I'd check Rock Auto first and see what's listed. Then looking at the specs for the correct stud, see if there is a longer one available from...

Zero offset on 14 x 7" rim wheels for P245 60 R14 on stock 1969 Dart, anyone could tell???

All factory 15 x 7 rims have a B.S. of 4.25. Those seem to work well on most Mopars including a bodies. Because your suspension is removed from the car.....can you mock up the new tires/wheels on the ground? Put them in place with the body dropped down over them. I'd leave about 1.2-1.3 cm...

Rally wheels mixed width front and back same tire?

300 for what you got is a good deal. Factory SBP were only 5.5. If these truly are 6 and 7 then they are aftermarket which is ok. The 7s are a little wide for 195 tires but ok to use. Don't worry about the lipstick thing, just do it. Surprising how good those wheels will make your pig look. I...

Time to Buy Tires for the Duster......help please.

225 is a bit much for only a 5.5 rim. 15 x 7 with 4.25 BS is the factory offset. Dusters have a pretty good size rear well so 255 will fit there.

    275 on 8x15

No offense, but personally I would never put a 295 tire on an 8" rim. I think the tire manufacturers should know what they're talking about by now. Put a GoPro on that, go for a ride and see how it looks. The old rule of thumb used to be rim width should be within +/- 1/2" of the tread width...
