I scored an older 800cfm aftermarket thermoquad spreadbore manual trans carb. I want to put it on my 383 with new Eddie heads and Eddie rpm performer intake. Do I need an adapter spacer to fit on the manifold?

My cam in my 383 engine right now is the old Mopar purple cam? 284/484. Maybe it will help somewhat. I always thought the cam though not ground breaking was a good solid hp and torque producer.

Can I make a new set of hydraulic roller lifters work with my Mopar performance purple cam in the car currently? You don’t need to use hydraulic roller lifters solely with a hydraulic roller cam but can it be compatible with a traditional older cam like in my dart?

Murray are you saying that the hydraulic lifters sometimes will loose their ability to stay pumped up but can still be used in the car for years? Maybe just make sure that they warm up a little then they should be fine as long as the lifter isn’t collapsed.

I finally adjusted the carburetor air fuel mixture screws and set the idle screws after dialing in the timing the best I could. It idles at 1000 rpm, has 12-13 inHG and runs much smoother but what’s great is the choppy cam at idle. I’m over the moon for now.
