what dia t bars should I buy? & what shocks should I get?

Go do a full coil spring conversion. KIDDING!! This is my setup exactly...I have to report that it rides hard and still doesn't feel that great. If I had to do it over again, I might go for a smaller torsion bar.

What's the effect of not installing torsion bar grease boots?

When I was replacing my suspension components 5-6 years back, I was in the middle of urgently trying to get the car back on the road partially out of frustration/impatience and partially because I needed to be able to move the car to access the garage. This kind of desperation is usually what...

Torsion bars for better handling; your experience?

This is why God made hammers. :D Don't be shy and give them a whack for clearance. Definitely touch them up with some high temp paint incase the header's coating cracked in that spot. Evidently, unless you're really crushing the tube, performance isn't measurably affected by dings and dents...

    coil spring front

Oh. That’s a good explanation. I remember this kind of logic from grammar school. You know what I think? I think were embarrassed when people “disagreed” with your unnecessarily rude conduct. Now, you’re just lashing out, making it other people’s problem. Just for the record, I know I’ve...

    How should my duster handle

Sounds like you're getting the car to drive the way you like so maybe it's a moot point but the alignment specs are not optimized to radial tires, IIRC. If you're running E70-14s, the factory specs would apply but more than likely you have something more modern and it would therefore benefit...

Torsion bars for better handling; your experience?

Your Barracuda is as cool as it gets, IMO and your car has been an inspiration for my own build in a number of different ways. I too have 1.14" bars in my Sport. :D While my opinion wavers a bit, I don't think these are the best choice for a street-only car. In order to work properly, I...

First drive after brake upgrade, then - BANG!

I am leaning toward this advice too. The front end isn’t complicated. Actually, it is the definition of elegant simplicity. Taking it apart, inspecting, reassembling, torquing to spec will not only give you a great deal of peace of mind, you’ll get to see how this nifty torsion bar suspension...

    Steering Box Ratio

This is disappointing to hear but thank you for the data point.

    Steering Box Ratio

It really seems like Barracudas can get away with shorter tires and visually, I can't work out why that is but I am envious. It would open up some tire options for sure. As it stands, if I ran a 23" tall tire on my Dart, the gap between the OD of the tire and the wheel arch would be horrendous!

    Steering Box Ratio

Maybe the Firmfeel box solves the slop problem. If so, my complaints only apply to a stock unit. What alignment specs are you running?

    Steering Box Ratio

I'll just add another opinion about the steering ratio. The 16:1 manual steering has some major drawbacks that folks seem to underestimate. IF you want the quick ratio because you want to do "sporty" driving, you presumably also have a performance oriented suspension (which it sounds like you...

Scary?: Rotors slightly contacting dust shields during hard corner (wheel bearings)

My car has stock front spindles/single piston disk brakes. The rotors (along with the wheel bearings) were replaced ~5k miles ago when I first got my Dart back on the road. A that time, I recall looking up and following some recommendations about adjusting the tension on the wheel bearing nut...

Adjustable strut rods making terrible sound 74 Swinger

That’s awesome news! Any idea why it didn’t show up until now? It wasn’t affected by ride height and you used all stock style parts aside from the strut rods, right?

Adjustable strut rods making terrible sound 74 Swinger

Small victories like this can feel pretty significant. I see folks squabble with 72Blu from time to time but I have to say that in my experience, 99%+ of the time, the guy gets it right.

New England- need alignment shop recommendation

I called around and found that the local Town Fair Tire was willing to follow my specs (from that SKOSH chart) and not only would they let me hang around the shop while they did it, they also let me drive the car up onto the rack and sit in the car so my 200lbs would be accounted for in the...

    Eaton Tru-Trac differential opinions?

I have about 5000 miles on mine with no complaints at all. I also have a mechanical limited slip in my Mustang so I don’t have much to compare it to directly at the moment. IIRC recommended Motul oil was a bit expensive and needed to be changed after the first 1k (I believe) so that may be a...

    16:1 vs. 24:1 steering

Not sure about 72bluNblu’s workout regimen but I’d advise against picking a fight with this guy. He must have arms the size of tree trunks. :D I’m running a 16:1 box on smaller tires with less caster and IMO, it can be a b1tch in some circumstances. I recently had to re-torque and Loctite the...

I know a lot of guys run these with good results. How do they affect handling? It seems like moving the springs in board would require higher springs rates or a stiffer sway bar to maintain the same roll resistance…

Subframe connectors for a driver/cruiser, necessary to weld to floor?

There’s an echo in here. :D Based on the historical application of these two measures, I think there is a strong case for the OP to use this option. His car sounds like it has been upgraded to at least the level of cars that would have come with this equipment and while it’s not being raced...

Subframe connectors for a driver/cruiser, necessary to weld to floor?

I went with the Mancini/non-floor welded connectors after a similar discussion a couple years back, no regrets. The thing that seems to be missing here is the debate over torque boxes. I have no data to back this up but the Torque boxes may actually be more important since this is what Mopar...

Steering effort for manual 16:1 - should it be this high?

Sounds like a great option. Thanks for the info on this. It looks like these systems are over a grand new. I’ll keep an eye out for a used one as a possibility… Also, well done on helping them out with the technical info.
