The dreaded fiberglass hood sprung spring rattle

Coming back around to this issue...now that another driving season (for us northerners) comes to a close, I am writing up my list of things that have to be done before next spring! Speaking of spring (har har) I came to the conclusion last year that I am going to have to pull the...

Bought the trunk lid from Junkyard Crawl Dart Sport - how to clean it?

Thanks. I'll just update this- The razor work is tricky. It's arduous work and requires a lot of concentration. At about three hours in, ended up scraping a 1cm square chip out of the paint in a pretty conspicuous spot so it looks like I'll be spraying this thing after all. The clear...

Bought the trunk lid from Junkyard Crawl Dart Sport - how to clean it?

Nah. He wasn’t there that day. I guess he comes by about once a week and films a bunch of segments. The owner of the junkyard told a few quick stories about him and confirmed that he’s very bit as cool in real life as he seems in his videos. We did find his sharpie notes written on a few of...

Bought the trunk lid from Junkyard Crawl Dart Sport - how to clean it?

You may be onto something, sir. Heat gun, and a razor blade are doing the trick so far without doing significant damage to the paint beneath. Thank you!

Bought the trunk lid from Junkyard Crawl Dart Sport - how to clean it?

What kind of paint did they use at the factory? Couldn't the clear have been applied after delivery?

Bought the trunk lid from Junkyard Crawl Dart Sport - how to clean it?

I have already hit it with car wash soap and water. I gave it a good scrub and it removed the bulk of the surface grime. There is some additional grime on the exposed paint that may be removed with some light compounding. ] The clear coat itself is the big problem. Where it is coming of in...

Bought the trunk lid from Junkyard Crawl Dart Sport - how to clean it?

I’m about an hour south of Bernardston Auto Wrecking where Steve Magnate films his frequent Junkyard Crawl videos. If you haven’t checked out his YouTube channel., You’re missing out! Fascinating and educational stuff. A little while back, he featured a 1975 Dodge dart sport in a very...

Repro direct connection trunk lid spoiler- any ideas on mounting without drilling?

This worked out pretty well. There is a gap which is most noticeable on the sides but it’s more or less acceptable.

Repro direct connection trunk lid spoiler- any ideas on mounting without drilling?

Point taken but if one doesn't know how to weld at all, it might look a bit more daunting. I may go this route eventually. If this was an original/new condition spoiler, I would be much more inclined to mount it as intended. This fiberglass repro is fine but it's far from perfect. Between my...

Repro direct connection trunk lid spoiler- any ideas on mounting without drilling?

This seems like a better idea than affixing pieces with epoxy to do the same job. I'll have to think about how to do this without leaving a gap....

Repro direct connection trunk lid spoiler- any ideas on mounting without drilling?

Interesting...any tips on how you applied it? How long has it been on there?

Repro direct connection trunk lid spoiler- any ideas on mounting without drilling?

I just got my repro spoiler (bought from the usual guy on Ebay) painted up and ready to mount. I don't have a spare trunk lid and drilling holes in my car is something that I really, really prefer not to do. Can you guys recommend any kind of clips or adhesive mounting system that would hold...

The dreaded fiberglass hood sprung spring rattle

I was going to ask about this...is there any way to extract the springs completely without pulling the fenders and/or splash shields. I don't want to pull mine. Mine have been released from the post but they're still attached at the middle slotted post...hopefully that makes sense. It...

Afternoon project? 1973+ bumper reinforcment removal for weight reduction...worth it?

Just an update- the backing plate on the bumper for a ‘73 Dart weighs closer to 15lbs...I haven’t gotten the scale out but it’s not even close to 40lbs, guys. Maybe this is different foR later cars? In any case, it’s well worth removing dead weight from the nose but don’t count on a huge chunk...

Afternoon project? 1973+ bumper reinforcment removal for weight reduction...worth it?

I'm wondering if you guys have a trick for this: My bumper has never been off of the car. It turns out that each of the bumper bolts, despite being soaked in penetrating oil, are being a pain in the arse. As you guys know, the head of the bolt is chrome, round and smooth but it sits in a...

Afternoon project? 1973+ bumper reinforcment removal for weight reduction...worth it?

Wait...40lbs? That’s a serious amount of weight on the nose of the car. The gap could be unsightly I didn’t think of that...an aluminum piece would be a good call.

Afternoon project? 1973+ bumper reinforcment removal for weight reduction...worth it?

It looks like there's a heavy gauge piece of sheet metal, presumably as a reinforcement, just behind the front bumper of my Dart. I assume that this is common to other '73+ A bodies as well... Is it possible to just unbolt the bumper, remove this chunk of metal and bolt the bumper back on...

    Fiberglass hood and hinges

I went through this process last year. I opted to go with the no springs/prop rod thing for the sake of simplicity but I've since bought some light springs from the resident forum supplier AtomicDog which are going in at some point this year... Initially, I couldn't get the thing to sit flat...

    Floor pan replacement...

This info is turning out to be valuable for me too... Getting ready to do a bucket seat swap and when pulling back the carpets, I discovered that the rear section of the passenger side foot well is getting pretty soft. The whole floor is in nice shape with the original paint in tact...except...

    Ducktail spoiler

I can't see drilling an original trunk for a less than perfect reproduction spoiler. Is there anyway to mount without drilling the holes? Is there enough surface area between the fiberglass and the trunk lid for 3M trim adhesive? I realize that you'll still have dimples... Nice story but I...

    Hood pin install

I just got my Aerocatch pins...still wrangling with the hood adjustment before I drill. Has anyone used these with an AAR fiberglass hood? Any tips are welcome before I make a mess out of things. :D I've literally tried to adjust this for hour and hours with tiny incremental movements and I...

    Hood Pins

Amazing that these cost 5x-8x as much as basic hood pins but they do look cool. What's the install like?

New hood alignment fun. Any advice?

Yeah, my '73 has slotted hinges, the threaded holes in the hood are fixed...It sounds like the Barracuda guys are the ones who might have trouble. I really don't want to adjust the fenders but I hear you guys on that and I'll keep the option in mind. :) Thanks to all!

New hood alignment fun. Any advice?

Yessir. AAR uses the same part for both. The hood even came marked with “69 Barracuda” on a piece of masking tape. This would explain it. Has anyone else had this problem? Honestly, I think I’d just get hood pins rather than swap hinges... if it comes to that.

New hood alignment fun. Any advice?

Maybe I’m a bit dense but I’ve gone around and around trying to adjust the mounting points on the hinges. I’ll fix one side and then it’s messed up in a new, exciting way. Is there a trick? I plan to keep messing with it but I feel like at some point In ~50 tries, I should have gotten it to...
