    340 exhaust pipe gasket

Both TTI and Accurate have ones that fit well. I prefer the ones Accurate sells better. IIRC it was because theirs had the steel ring.

    H or X CROSSOVER?

IMO and experiences with the 340 manifolds, the X-pipe is a risk., espeically with a street car. Use a 2.25 or 2.5" to the muffler, 2.5" good mufflers - anything mentioned by Tom, I've also done OK ith Magnaflow. The over the axle with whatever makes a smooth transition and gets over the the...

    Great Price 67-76 Mopar A-Body Complete Stainless X Pipe System Hooker Blackheart 2.5" & 3" - Under $400 & Free Shipping

Yea. Keep us updated with your progress. I agree. If I bought an X pipe, I'd expect an X-pipe. An H is a balance tube and sets up the harmonic if placement is correct. An X-pipe is supposed to add some flow sharing. I was interested the tail pipe but from the pics thats not set up to...

Rear valance dual exhaust mod on a /6 car

I went with downturns. Simplest solution although not visually perfect due ot the cutout on one side. Accurate's '67 tailpipes are shaped to use exhaust hangers behind the rear seat and clear the '67 fuel tank strap. However IIRC they do not use the original factory 67 tailpipe hanger.

exhaust pipe diameter for a mildly modified 340

Makes no sense. At least no sense without context. What's the pressure in the intake? Where was the pressure in the exhaust measured? Are they measured on the same scale? Modern cars use absolute pressure. Atmosmopheric pressure is 14.7 psia. 1 psia is very low pressure. This is why I...

exhaust pipe diameter for a mildly modified 340

Calvin Elston explains how he views the mass of exhaust gas leaving the cylinder. Better way of thinking about exhaust than flow and backpressure, or even worse simply maximum flow and resistance at maximum flow. https://www.speed-talk.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=42375&start=15

exhaust pipe diameter for a mildly modified 340

Now you're getting into facts. Why would you let facts get in the way of a good story? :poke: using factory option E70-14 would have diameter around a 205 70r14, which is 25.3" with a 3.23 gear, 4000 rpm is still 93 mph, and 3000 rpm is 70 mph. The place where its most important for...

    MUFFLER OPINIONS

Whose doing the work? What's your priority? Where are the tailpipes coming from ? All that plays into the muffler length inlet and outlet sizes and offset that will fit well. Tailpipes on '67 are bit tricky. they exist a little over from the 68-69 and hang from underneath instead from the...

    Header flange dimensions. (dxf)?

The mounting hole centerlines to ports vary from head to head. Your choices are to make a cardboard template off the heads you will be using, or go with slot or large holes in flanges. Are you a member of Speedtalk? Photos in there of my build and on page 2 Calvin posted a sketch showing the...

Never done this before (no header gasket)

Even some of the more costly headers do not have a flat flange. A flat flange will need no gasket, a hard gasket, or a thin coat of RTV. This is the proper way to get the threads on the mounting bolts to deform in the elastic range where they hold and do not back off. That said, many big name...

Installing Accurate dual exhaust on ‘67 Barracuda

Glad you got it worked out. It's always difficult mixing '67 and '68/9 setups. The '67 tailpipes hung directly below the rail. It's been a while but IIRC the '68s with tips hung offthe side of the rails. Accurate has some of the parts correct but IIRC not the tailpipe hangers. TTI has the...

    Exhaust Band Clamps

Here's what they look like after they've been on a while. Seven years in this case. An impact wrench made removal much easier. This is not the normal application (or maybe it is!? LOL) Looks like I cut stub and tacked the tailpipe on. Guess I'll be doing that again tommorrow.

    Headers for 1967 Dodge Dart

Well that's the one thing we can agree on. It only cost me the shipping, time and effort, and purchases on the Blackjack Cyclone headers, 340 exhaust manifolds, Headers by Ed, TTI shorties, several sets of custom exhausts, and one from Accurate Ltd. before I really understood how things fit.

Do I have the right exhaust hangers on the car?

Yes. My recollection is the dimples indicating where to drill are stamped in the body. If you go to Accurate Exhaust's website there may be photos of the hangers which are similar to factory. or search here for photos of Accurate exhausts. Same for TTI exhaust and their hangers.

Do I have the right exhaust hangers on the car?

I think in your car's case, much of the problem is the entry end. That why I think it has to be cut and reattached. I agree about that style of hanger slipping out. Don't like that. I was planning on changing the tailpipes and the hangers this winter. Didn't happen but it will. '67 cars are...

Do I have the right exhaust hangers on the car?

Look underneath on the left side. No matter what plain jane engine your car started life with, it came with the left exhaust bracket welded to the floor pan. The part that comes straight out with a hole in it is for the brakes. On a dual exhaust car a second bracket was bolted on the right...

X pipe, Y pipe, NO pipe

and a badly sized and placed X pipe can make reversion worse. don't ask me how I know this. The most important thing in terms of flow will be muffler. That can be much more a restriction than the tubing. Spend the time and money on that first.

    TTI tailpipes with factory tips

Correct. But the dual pipes were available on 383s, so that hanger bracket can be added on. The issues are how TTI hangs the pipes and mufflers is not factory, and '67s fuel tank and tail pipes are attached different than later cars. TTI tailpipes I *think* hang from the factory location...

    TTI tailpipes with factory tips

I test fit a pair of TTI tailpipes on my '67. The answer is 'it depends'. it depends on the how the mufflers and forward are located and hung, and the year. for '67 with stock located muffler and fuel tank, there will be issues.

Complete Manifold-Back Exhaust: Accurate vs TTi

Accurate was using the factory muffler hanger locations. TTI uses seat or safety belt bolt for the muffler hangers - I forget which. At the tail, TTI uses a factory hanger, and Accurate wasn't always. Accurate's headpipe flange and gasket fits and seals well. On my '67 Accurate's d/s headpipe...

    warped exhaust manifold

Top of machined top table saw or similar also works, as does plate glass. You can go to finer grits on the plate to get the final finish you want. Just keep checking that the edges aren't getting cut down faster than the center.
