    Electric fan suggestion

I bought my radiator, shroud and dual electric fans from Challengergary ... or was it Challengersteve on FABO. It fits in that same tight spot. I don't have any better pics with me. I can take some when I get home tonight if you like. I love the looks of my setup and it fits well.

    Cooling System Additive

Not going to argue. If it's on the internet it has to be true. Even if it is true, ethyl glycol is a lubricant. Lubricants reduce friction. Friction creates heat. Therefore, if I remember my physics properly, adding coolant to your water will reduce friction and heat. However, the best...

    Cooling System Additive

I just wanted to add that straight water runs hotter. You aren't adding antifreeze, you are adding coolant and lubricants. Lubricants reduce friction, so I understand you wanting to add them, but I would recommend a 50/50 mix of water and coolant to optimize your cooling.

    Cooling System Additive

I use water wetter in my 408. I went to a Champion aluminum radiator and dual electric fans and still it runs 220 or so on hot days and in traffic. I have decided that that is where it's going to run and I'm okay with that.

    Heater core shot

I had no idea Quebec was in China. They didn't teach me that in school. :-) I bought mine from 800-radiator for my 73 Dart Sport. It fit pretty well, just a minor bend of one of the tubes. It was brass, it was reasonable, and they had it to me in three days.

    champion radiator?

Being happy with the end product is what it's all about. I thought I would throw in a few pics of mine. I bought the radiator, shroud, and dual electric fans. It works well and looks great. I did go to a Coolflex upper hose since these pics were taken.

    champion radiator?

I have a Champion and love it. I bought one for a customer's 66 Oldsmobubble and it is a thing of beauty. Challengergary here on FABO can help you, or go to their website. I wouldn't think twice about buying another, and I probably will for my Ramcharger when I get the 440 in it this summer.

    Worst coolant I've ever seen

It drains into a holding tank we have to pump out every so often. Not dexcool in this one, just plain old 50/50 coolant. We told her she would have to come back after a month or so and let us look at it again. I never saw the girl, but she is a vet student at the U of M. We get all the students...

    Worst coolant I've ever seen

A college girl came in with a Jeep Wrangle and a complaint of no heat. The pictures are what we found. I've never seen coolant so bad. We flushed out with water, twice with Dawn dish soap, water two more times, and then it was clear enough to add coolant. And she had heat. The lesson here is...

    Possible Electrical Fan Conversion?

I bought my dual fan set up from challengergary here on FABO. I actually bought my Champion aluminum radiator, fans and shroud from him. I should have ordered the thermostatic fan switch from him, but I stupidly thought I'd just run an on/off switch inside the car. The first time out I forgot to...

    Possible Electrical Fan Conversion?

I run a dual electric fan off a thermostatic controller I bought from summit. You can hide the relay, run all the wires off the battery, and all you will see is the sensor and one wire running to it.

Why is there oil on my floorboard?

Do you have an aftermarket oil pressure gauge, or was there one at one time and someone left the line running inside?

    Which Junkyard Electric fan?

I bought my Champion radiator, shroud and dual electric fans from Challengergary a couple years ago. I'm very happy with it, though I should have bought a thermal fan switch from the start. I ran just an on/off switch originally. Forgot to turn it on, forgot to turn it off. I bought a thermal...

Heater duct hose size 73 Dart Sport?

Looked up heater duct hose. Holy crap, they want $60 for the damn stuff. I'm going to find something somewhere that will work. It has to be out there.

Heater duct hose size 73 Dart Sport?

I feel kind of lazy posting this, but my car is home and I am at work, so I can't measure the hose. I want to order some while I am bored at work. Does anyone know the size of the heater duct hose? Classic Industries doesn't list it by vehicle, but by size. Or maybe someone knows of a hardware...

Should I leave the heater box out?

I did put it back in, but I am considering removing the evap core because I don't have a/c anymore. Is there any value selling an evap core? My brother wants to use one for a fuel cooler.

Should I leave the heater box out?

I bought mine locally from 1-800-radiator for $63. We buy a lot of stuff from at work. The core itself was good, but the lines were pointed in different directions and were not parrallel to each other. I had to stick a 3/8 extension in them and bend them true. Otherwise life is good. I have a...

Should I leave the heater box out?

In the end I put it in. I just thought about the few times I use it, and it was nice to have. It was 55 and sunny, and even though there is snow on the ground, the roads were dry and I drove it to the car wash to vacuum the coolant from the carpet. I might have sped, and I might have spun the...

Should I leave the heater box out?

I could smell coolant last fall and the window would get a little fog even on hot days. This spring I was bleeding the cooling system after putting on new hoses and the interior was filled with steam. I have the box out now and it is full of coolant. My only decision now is do I put it back in...

Should I leave the heater box out?

Hahaha! I don't drive in the winter or rain. I have used it a few times in the evenings in the past. I do want speed, but even more it'd like to clean up under the dash. I don't think the few pounds I save will do much, but man! It looks clean and uncluttered under the dash. A few plates and...

Should I leave the heater box out?

My heater core was leaking, so I took out the heater box and evaporator box. I don't use air conditioning anymore and rarely use the heat. I'm thinking of making block of plates and leaving everything out. All I'd be out is the cost of the heater core, and I can always put it back in later. Any...

Champion radiator install with twin electric fans

I have the same set up. It works better than what I had, but not much. I think the hood scoop I run builds a positive pressure in the engine compartment and the fans can't work as well against it. That or the two smaller openings don't allow enough air flow. I am thinking of fitting in a Ford...

Any tips for installing new heater core?

Last year I got a little fog on my windows even on hot days. I didn't smell coolant. Well, once in a while I could get a light smell, but I never found any other evidence of leaking. Today I put on my new heater hoses and while the cooling system was bleeding and I was waiting for the thermostat...

    New chrome heater hoses

I had a Coolflex upper radiator hose and wanted matching lower and heater hoses. Coolflex wanted $293 for the heater hoses. I cheaped out and bought some from eBay for $45. I got my $45 worth, but not much more. I conveniently forgot when you buy cheap parts, you get cheap parts. The clamps were...

Hose covers / clean up underhood ideas?

Doesn't Ebay have a brand similar to that? Bam, there they are! :-) 44" Chrome Stainless Heater Hose w Chrome Caps Universal | eBay For $45 I can hardly go wrong. The lower hose is $35 through these guys as well. I wish I could find something for the bypass hose.

Hose covers / clean up underhood ideas?

I put on a Coolflex upper hose a couple years ago. I love the look, hate the price. Their customer service left a whole lot to be desired as well. I really want to do the lower hose and the heater hoses as well, but the prices are ridiculous. Are there any really good looking covers that are...

what to do for radiator hose

I bent a coat hanger in the shape I wanted, went down to the local O'Reilly store and walked up and down the aisles looking for one I could cut. I found one. You could also go with a Coolflex like I did.

what to do for radiator hose

I have the old radiator hose from my SB to my OE radiator. I had a straight up o-ring style t-stat housing to a driver's side radiator hose inlet. If you think it will work you can have it for the shipping costs. I went to a Coolflex hose because I loved the look. Here is the only pic I have of...
