    installing intake is a B****

The hardest part for me is always finding a way to get a socket on the bolts to torque them. Several of them I have to use a box wrench and torque by feel. ARP bolts are no help at all, unless you want to invest in 12 point sockets.

Anyone with feedback on the Manzo shortie headers?

Hahaha! I was thinking the exact same thing when I read the comment! I saw these on eBay and was wondering. I need big block truck headers for my Ramcharger. Bouchillon Performance Engineering makes a set pretty cheap in a long tube header. http://www.bpeusa.com/BPEheaderManifolds.asp

    426 Hemi

While I agree that there is nothing as breathtaking as a 426, for me the sheer cost of the motor and the cost of all the go fast parts make it unappealing. I can buy a long block 426 for what I have in the purchase of my car, built 408, built 200R4, Dana 60, and all the accessories I put into it.

Big Block Conversion, do it again?

Try me. I love to race and do it a lot. Sadly, the closest race I ever had was a newer Mustang GT. Don't know what he did to his car, but my beak gave me the win ... barely.

Big Block Conversion, do it again?

Maybe more usable torque would be better put. The torque range in my car compared to some of the big blocks is way different. My brother's 440 had more kick in mid range than I did. I'm 500hp and have run against comparable big blocks and won. As you say, there are not a lot of 500hp street...

Big Block Conversion, do it again?

I walk away from big blocks every day with my stroker. Lighter and more torque, and then I have overdrive. Pound for pound and dollar for dollar a stroker will take most big blocks. That said, I'm building a 440 for my Ramcharger.

    Big block camshaft question

I run a Comp Cam roller set up in my small block 408 stroker. It is a great set up and I have 20,000 miles on it. You'd have a hard time telling me Comp Cams are not quality parts. I am building a 440 now myself and considered going solid, but in the end I am going hydraulic due to ease of...

    Odd coolant leak!

I would suspect the housing is cracked if you replaced the hose and it still leaks. As they say, housing leaks are common, but at the base. If it's not there, suspect the housing neck is cracked.

    belt throwing issues

Hate to say it, but it's probably not the belts. I would suspect alignment of the pulleys or not properly tightened. A V belt doesn't care about horsepower. It just spins in a circular motion. Double check all pulley alignment. That's where I would think the trouble is.

Would any of y'all recommened or use these on your own engine?

Cryogenics is awesome. There is a local shop here that can do brake rotors if you have a warping issue. You will never have it again after spending the $40 to get them cryogenically treated. They do gun barrels as well, and they are never more accurate. Is it worth it in a mild 318? If you want...

What oil is best for a 440bb

I use Amsoil Z-rod 20W50 synthetic, though I probably don't need the zinc and I could probably use 10W40 if I wanted. Most filters are good, but I had a problem with Fram as a kid and won't use them. I use Wix or Amsoil filters now.

Winter coming, need advice for this newbie...

Ooh! Ooh! I can! Batteries slowly lose their charge. A fully charged battery will not freeze, but a low or undercharged battery will. As the battery slowly loses it's charge it becomes vulnerable and will freeze. That can destroy batteries, or at the very least shorten their life. And small...

Winter coming, need advice for this newbie...

I fill the tank and add a bottle of Seafoam. I change the oil with the same 20W50 Amsoil I always use. I park it in a cold, unheated storage unit. If the weather is warm and no snow, I may get the car out and drive it a bit. Otherwise, It sits in storage on it's tires until spring when I pull it...

    383 to 727 help - 66 Charger

A flywheel is used on an 833 manual, a flexplate is used on the 727 automatic. I would say that if you can't get the asymmetrical bolts to line up that you need a new flexplate. Mind you, the 318 has an internally balanced converter and a 383 does not. You may need to change the converter as...
