I agree with the above post. Read the posts above about timing and get the adjustable rotor. I’m running a stock Alt with basically the MAD bypass and have no issues running the fuel pump, ProFlo4, and electric fan even with the A/C on so anything rated at or above the stock specs for an A/C car...

    High output alternator recommendations

I run the ProFlo4 EFI, in tank 340lph Areomotive fuel pump, electric fan, and the mad bypass on my cars and both have no issues at idle holding 14V even with the headlights and A/C on. This voltage is verified by the dash gauge hooked at the fuse block and the ProFlo4 data which is sensed at the...

As I mentioned above, My car that is an automatic is set at 22* @ idle and 32* total @ 3K with 10* of vacuum advance. As soon as you’re on the gas timing seems to be 25* and cruising seems to be in the 30’s. I set my engine at 30* BTDC and set the rotor at the #1 plug tower. Runs and starts...

My car, automatic seems to spend a lot of time around 30* so I set the rotor at 30*. All good!

If you did the setup correctly, locked timing at 12* then verified with your timing light the distributor is where it needs to be. Once done with that step you need to unlock the timing so the computer can control the timing. If you Look at my pictures above you can see the rotor looks as you...

Decided to work on my ProFlo3 engine today that had the same issues as discussed here. Found what I already knew in that the rotor phasing is off. Here is what I found with the engine at 25* BTDC. Installed the MSD adjustable rotor so hopefully as with the ProFlo4 this problem will no...

Exactly what I was thinking and why I didn’t want to comment until I saw others reactions. Total BS again. Unfortunately we can’t reply over there as the thread is closed but I may reply in the thread about how to get more timing from SBM.

So there is a new post on the EFI forum about the timing topic we have been discussing here. I have my opinions about it. What do you guys think? ProFlo Mopar Distributor Rotor Phasing - Edelbrock Community Forum Unfortunately the topic is locked so we can’t dispute it over there.

Well yes, each manufacturer setup would possibly have a unique Distributor Cap/Rotor but the TPS, O2, Map, Coolant temp sensors should all be the same.

TPS sensor part # TH-42 if you have the 4150 style. Bad TPS sensors have been talked about lately on the Edelbrock forum. My guess is when they lowered the price to compete a couple years ago cheaper sensors were part of the cost savings. I have also had to replace my O2 sensor.

So I drove my car this weekend after installing the MSD adjustable rotor as others have talked about earlier in this thread. Night and day difference. Now I can get my cruising timing back to where it should be. It starts quicker, idles better, and my long and short fuel trims are lower than...

Typical. It’s the first post Peter has closed that I have been involved with but Nate who used to be there deleted, removed threads, removed my replies, and blocked my IP address. Unfortunately when the topics start to point in their direction, they seem to close them with no definitive...

I have not been able to drive mine but it starts easier and I can take it up to 4-5k rpm now with no miss or backfire. Before could not get past 3k rpm. I also disagree with the chain tensioner theory as both of my engines did this the worst being the one with the tensioner in it.

This is great to hear. I hope to try mine out tomorrow if it doesn’t rain. I also have the stumble on light throttle.

So, Pulled my distributor cap off today since the MSD adjustable rotor arrived and found the following. First picture =0* Second =12* Third =30* Fourth =35* And the last one shows the rotor with about 1K miles on it. Obviously the spark has been predominantly using the left side.

I beg to disagree with this. While he may have had lots of information, he was a total ***. He deleted many of my posts and banned me (blocked my IP address) from the site because he disagreed with me on some of these issues. This topic included. I even agreed to disagree with him and asked why...

This doesn’t surprise me. Overall I have had good conversations with the actual forum moderator except when it comes to this topic a couple of years back now. Since I’ve been living with the low amount of timing for a couple years now I’m thankful for the work you and TurboGLH have put into...

So did you advance the rotor or retard it? I ordered the adjustable rotor yesterday so it won’t be here for a couple days. Interested to hear how it works on your engine.

I set the distributor at the #1 plug wire on the cap which I had marked on the body of the distributor with the damper set at 12*. Even if the damper had been at 0* the rotor would have been very close. Trying to move the gear on the cam one tooth either way would have been noticeably off. I...

I have initial timing at 20* on my 340. No starting issues. The only problem is the backfire around 30*. Plenty of talk on here and on the Edelbrock site about faulty TPS sensors. My guess is when they went to the ProFlo4 the price was reduced about $1K for the kit. Some of the savings must...

If you end up going this route please take pictures and post here. I have had this issue and even discussed with Edelbrock tech support a couple years ago but have not got around to messing with the distributor. In my case anything over 28* seems to cause issues. We should be able to run mid...

    Electric Oil pressure gauge

Have used electric gauges for years. As talked about above, I had the nylon line break on me just above the connection at the engine probably 35 years ago. Luckily I caught the problem prior to burning up the engine. Did not have such great experience with Auto meter but have used VDO cockpit...

    Tach adapter compatability?

I have not used the MSD adapter with the crane ignition, but I used the MSD adapter with my jacobs ignition and it cured the tach problem. I see no reason why it shouldn't work.
