I have a 10" electric fan, but I don't want to find out that its not enough to cool the motor before its too late, when im halfway to the next town over (1.5hr drive)

It won't do you any real good. The blower motor blows air through the heater core. If you have bypassed the heater core then its not hot= no warm air for defrost.

Yay... I'm trying to remove the blower motor on my 64.... This shall be fun. I don't suppose anyone has a diagram of the blower motor R&R by chance?
