    Exhaust

aluminized steel is a surface treatment done by the steel producer. it is dipped or sprayed on regular hot rolled steel and bonds to the surface- not bad but not part of the original steel formula more of a coating where stainless is the composition of the steel elements when it is smelted down...

    Header Clearance Issue

make sure your engine is sitting square with the k member. The engine has quite a bit of room to move on the mounts and sometimes you get it cocked setting it down on the k memeber

    Over steering linkage headers?

To be over the linkage headers they would almost have to be fenderwell headers. My hedman hedders fit tight to the floorpan and you can get the starter off and on without removing the header might look at them

    leaky headers......

Even the best hedders will warp some over time, due to extreem heat and bolts loosening themselves up. What I do is to double gasket them and try to tighten them as evenly as possible. Then fire it up and get warmed up and retighten a little more

Buying headers what fits the best?

I use Hedman Hedders and the fit fine and are tucked up high enough that they don't hit going into driveways and potholes. They were cheap and plug access is good.

    Wich one of these two?

well I have used both on different cars and to be honest the blackjacks lasted as long as the hookers and went in easier. the easier couldhave just been that the hookers were on a hemi roadrunner and the blackjacks were on a 360 -68 cuda. Both ended up rusting thru in about the same amount of time

What do you use for header gaskets?

my experience with the coppers wasnt very good. They worked fine at first but then they need tightened every week to keep from leaking and "spitting".. Ceramic Headers

yes they will dull and yellow with time and temperature. The only thing I know of to clean and shine them is to rub them down with chrome polish (something real mild ) but that produces another set of problems (polish burning off) I was going to try some comet or ajax on a damp rag but never got...
