For the guys that like to play with numbers.

Probably has a 245 head on it. Love to see the piston dome. Gotta love those willing to put that money into a Sportsman build these days.

Valves are set and I’m ready to race.

Did that thing have a smog pump and adj. rockers...wow

    Suggested spark gap for .......

I'd start at .040 if it was mine. 45 should be fine thou.

Just a quick post on why as a head porter I like solid aluminum spacers over two inch ones.

Love your work John. As a complete novice on intake porting, what would happen if you shortened the dividers a bit.

    Cam change?

Guessing it's a small tire car. How much rpm are you missing on the big end. Maybe retard the current cam a bit to knock down the hit and give a few rev's up top. Then again if you're cyl head limited, while that new cam may raise the peak power, i'm not sure you will gain much for average power...

    Factory high stall converter

70' 340 Duster....Factory installed converter with stock engine other then a Hemi grind cam and 750 carb, foot braked to 2200. May have flashed a hair more.

Poll: Do traction bars help out Mopar leaf springs or not

Ok, i voted no at about 90%. Only Mopar ''car'' i have ever seen with a ''wheel hop'' issue had wore out springs/shocks and 3 or 4'' shackles. I could see someone going for a vintage look using them and maybe some uses for a truck. I had a 5spd Ram that sure could have used some help...lol.

Poll: Do traction bars help out Mopar leaf springs or not

We talkin old school Lakewood's or modern Caltrac style?

    Compression

On a street/strip car you'll surely notice it in the low/mid range. It will sound better and be a lot more crisp as long as your fuel and timing can keep up.

Contest Time! $$$ Don't miss out!

Pretty chilly for the T&T so i'll wait for the results. Thanks for doing this. We appreciate the extra time it takes to pull off a cool contest like this. That said, concentrate on the set-up and make some nice/safe passes. Good luck this weekend.

    Wrapped headers....or Unwrapped

Since yours are wrapped already, kinda a moot point. I personally don't care for it, although i did do a partial on some driver side fenderwells to keep heat away from the master cyl/brake lines.

    Small block w/ 3.79 crank

Probably not worth the expense for anything other then a ''class specific'' car. With those rods, most are built with big heads, big comp, big roller, and turn a lot of rpm. Not that it wouldn't be fun with a 5spd and some big gears. :)

Small block stroker racers, Whos raced there combo on street gears

How similar will the Cuda be to the drag car as far as suspension, tires and such. If their isn't a certain number you have to hit, i'd just gear it for as comfortable as the current cam, converter will allow at reasonable cruise rpm.

Small Block Chrysler Racer Brown camshafts

That's a serious cam. It just begs for a good cyl head, some compression and some 1.6 rockers. :)

    Not my weekend.

6pm pass slowed across the board vs 4pm pass. Maybe just the conditions or track surface changed. Curious if it slowed from the previous 2wks. Maybe something is going away or it's just the ''chit happens'' scenario. If you keep hitting the tree like that, might dial a little soft for now and...

CONTEST : Guess the HP and WIN!

That much converter was my first thought on a chassis dyno when i first started reading this. I have to assume the tune is already spot on or all bets are off imo. That said, i'll go 460hp and hope i didn't copy someone else... Good luck Fri and don't break nothin' trying to hit a number...

My 273 1/4 Mile Time Slip With Video

Holy cow:thumbsup:. Just guessing, nice and light, a lot of gear and maybe a stick... Bet it sounded great on that pass.

    New best!

Fantastic. I really like the .018 and leaving smooth as glass. I'm sure the conditions were good this time of year, but it sure looks like you have a great setup for the 8.90 class.

    Crankshafts

From what most say, the Scat cast is a much better piece then the Eagle. Really depends on how hard you want to run it. For race use or any power added street use, i'd keep looking for a forged piece. jmo

    Vacuum pump

Sound like the engine is fresh. Do you see any blow by in your breather system. If not, i'd probably run it and save the coin for a later date. Just monitor the oil and if you feel it needs changing a little sooner so be it. As for the HP gain, if your not running a class that needs max et, just...

    Mopar and modified eliminator....

What a great time that was. Tons of destroked smallblocks, 300 to 315in range, in the D,E classes. I remember seeing a Duster in a 70's Magazine with i recall was at 311". Had fenderwell headers a tunnel ram and ton of gear. Most all the makes with small blocks were in the 10's. The A,B cars...

    Bone stock 318 2bbl 1/4 mile?

    For what it's worth, about 1976, a buddies 70' Duster 318, 3spd, 3.23 went 15 oh's @ 90 with headers, a LD and a 600 Holley. Had about 70k on it. I wasn't real impressed at the time, but probably was a decent runner.

    Track Champion

Congrats!!! So glad to see someone still running track points. I'd love to do it again, even in sportsman/street, it was so much fun years ago. Love to see that great looking Mopar on top in a sea of Chebs & Ferds. :)

    Home sweet home

I think you're ready for a good weekend. NWS has a slight chance of a few (30%) showers sat & sun. Doubt that will be a issue. Good luck to you, and your son, if he gets to run on Sunday. Oh, and i do very much appreciate your updates when you can give them.

New best a couple weeks ago

I know you like building the engines and tweeking heads and such, but man you might just be the chassis/drivetrain guru of FABO. :) I questioned your PG 1st gear earlier, but you got that baby dialed in. Congratulations!
