Well took the car out to a cars and coffee this morning and the fast idle issue and empty fuel filter issue has returned. I got both hands above my head. I surrender.

    Fuel Filter Empty

The PCV valve fixed the idle issue. The new fuel pump resolved the fuel issue. I also insulated all the metal fuel lines in the engine compartment and replaced all the pinch clamps. So she has good fuel, Good idle, temperature running about 190 all day long. Thx so much again.

You got to be kidding me. I just went to remove the PCV valve and it came a part in two pieces. After removing the piece stuck in the grommet it is stuck. No rattle at all.

    Fuel Filter Empty

OK thought I had the problem solved. Everything seems fine idling in the driveway. Since it's below 100 today I took the car for a drive. First thing I noticed is the car idles at almost 1900rpm all by itself after it gets warm. Normal idle is about 700rpm. Second when I got back to the house...

    Fuel Filter Empty

The new pump was working just fine when I drove the car around the block after I replaced it. The filter was staying full of fuel over night. Today oil leak at the pump and zero fuel in the filter.

    Fuel Filter Empty

Ok spoke to soon. Took the car to the about 6 miles round. Car started to run funny. Got home popped the hood and the fuel filter was damn near empty. No fuel leaks but an oil leak around the pump. WTF. Man I can not get a break. Guess I’ll need a new pump, again.

    Fuel Filter Empty

OK, I replaced the fuel pump and BINGO.. Another thing noted is the fact that before the pump change with the car running the filter was never completely full. Now it is completely full. Also the car has set over night and the filter is still full this morning. Thanks @mopar head and all the rest!

    Fuel Filter Empty

On to my next item to fix on my 1972 Plymouth Duster 340. I've noted that after the car sets for awhile, the fuel filter is completely empty. There are no obvious fuel leaks visible. Where should I start. Thanks in advance. Greg

Thanks for your input. The car does have a 1406 carb. The rear end gear is 3:55. The tire size is P245/60R14 and it is a 4 speed car. The carb has not been rejetted.

    Bigger Carb on my 340

I'm thinking about going to a New Edelbrock 750 CFM Performer Series Carb/Carburetor w/ Electric Choke, 4BBL from the Edelbrock 650 I have on the car now. The engine has been bored 30 over, it's got a purple cam, high rise Edelbrock Street Performer Intake, Doug's Headers and HEI ignition...

    Fuel Filter/Pressure Issue

OK, forced pressurized air through the vent line, and made a minor adjustment to accelerator pump linkage. I drove the car for 20 minutes and when I stopped/shut down to check the filter it was completely full. I let it set for over an hour and it remained full. Then I drove the car again...
