    Vinyl Top Mystery Stuff

I'm about to embark upon replacing a vinyl top on a 1966 Barracuda. When I got the car there was (and still is) no sign of the original black vinyl top. What I DID find was some remaining fragments of what appears to be a strip of cloth-type gasket stuff (about 1/4" wide) that went across the...

    1966 Barracuda Vinyl Top

Scary thought at first, but it looks like it has a happy ending! Thanks. (I didn't notice the posts were numbered - learn something every day). If I use this more, maybe I'll get the hang of it. Lots of good info.

    1966 Barracuda Vinyl Top

Everything you have said matches up with my build sheet..Bright Yellow, Black Vinyl top. That's what I'm going for, It also came with A/C, but I don't have ANY of that except the heater box, so the A/C will have to wait (maybe forever). Do you know anything about the windshield gasket possibly...

    1966 Barracuda Vinyl Top

Yow! I never thought about the windshield gasket being different. I'll need to explore that. It wouldn't be any fun at all finding out my new gasket didn't fit when I'm trying to re-install the windshield & the new headliner.

    1966 Barracuda Vinyl Top

I'm beginning to put this '66 back together. I bought it in pieces, so I didn't take it apart, but I believe everything is there in terms of the metal trim. The actual vinyl section is long gone, so I'm starting from scratch on that. Does anyone have a diagram that shows how a '66 vinyl top...

    Unconventional First Gen Barracuda Stripes

I believe this type of stripe had (has?) something to do with road racing. Maybe a rookie driver or something like that.....Not my cup o' tea, but to each his own.

    Glad to be alive!

Thanks, The fact that a Valiant fender will make my search a little less difficult. I'll wait to see what the body guy says about which way is better...fix mine, or replace it.

Will do. I've never done that before. Thanks

    Glad to be alive!

I bought the tires (they looked like new) on a set of Cragar s/s wheels over 10 years ago. They (tires and wheels) looked nearly new at the time & the tread still looks good (on the 3 remaining tires)...no sign of aging - at least nothing I can see. I believe the age, EXTREME heat (over 90)...

    Glad to be alive!

I had a harrowing experience on the expressway in my '66 Barracuda a few days ago. My left front tire let loose & tore up my left front fender, inner fender & lip molding - quite a ride!. I won't know exactly what I'll be needing until the 'body guy' looks at it in early July, but I may be...
