    Thermoquad ReFabulization

Following up, does anyone know where to get the main well caps that glue on the base of the carb body? Thanks !

    Thermoquad ReFabulization

Hey thanks Golden.. That is great info! I thought mine was irregular but glad to hear the large tubes can be a bit different from side to side. Yours looks like mine. Regarding the air bleed tubes, guess I will get a super small bit and put a thru hole at the same height as the other one and...

RRR, would you be able to sell me a couple good main well caps?

    Thermoquad ReFabulization

Hey, thanks :) yea so I used coarse blasting soda and a harbor freight hand blasting unit shown above. My compressor is a beast but I have seen folks rig up a soda blaster on youtube and use a box of arm&hammer on a motorcycle carb with a small compressor. I tried the blaster rig shown on...

    Thermoquad ReFabulization

rumble, I did look alot and it is very clean, there are no holes in the drivers side emulsification tube and different location but actually same number of holes in the fuel output tube, just different locations. I did see the output tube has a hole in the very end on the drivers side. You can...

    Thermoquad ReFabulization

So, I see a discrepancy in the secondary fuel feed tubes and air bleed tubes. Is this normal? Looking the way the camera sees, the left fuel output tube has fewer holes and the air bleed brass tube has zero holes, I have looked over it completely. Can anyone shed light on this? It is a 9801...

    Thermoquad ReFabulization

Anyone recommend a good source for a complete kit? I looked on ebay and walker industries but ebay kits dont have floats or well plugs and walker has several things out of stock including well plugs.

    Thermoquad ReFabulization

Thanks for checking it out :) Could anyone recommend a good rebuild kit / source to buy? Also, I need some good well caps or at least 1 because I lost it in the gravel when I was blasting the bowl. They both totally fell off. Sure they were not glued on at all anymore.

    Thermoquad ReFabulization

Hey Fabo good people, Just refurbishing my TQ. Always wanted to do such. It is a *9801S. Summary: Sat outside under a tarp (on the motor) and got sem-rained on for 4 years. Got back into it. Set up electroplating process and already have a big compressor / hand held blaster for coarse SODA.

    carb replacement suggestions

Summit thermoquad (holley rebuilt) looked like it fell out of a truck at 50 mph. That was my experience when we bought one. Then I had to plead with Summit to return it. It worked like shi# and leaked fuel into the intake. I bought an 800 avs thunder edelbrock for our 440 and it has worked...

    Thunder AVS clogged with debris

Well, is it the type of debris from fuel system or manufacturing debris? I have had fuel filters fail to stop debris from tank. Replaced fuel filter, no more debris in float valves or in bottom of float bowl. I usually will allow the fuel pump to pump / flush the system beyond the filter after...

    Duracoat Carb Parts?

Anyone Duracoat anything? I was thinking of (if they have it) a silver duracoat for TQ aluminum exterior parts. Wondered if it, after curing, was fuel tolerant. Thx!

    Carb rebuilt, engine still hesitates.

Well, you need to determine if it behaves as if it is running out of fuel. Running low on fuel (lean) will typically loose power and have a moaning whoosh engine sound while pulling hills / under load. Sometimes it can buck and hiccup but first it will just sound like it is loosing power. The...

    TQ question

Wow... Friggin drooling over those TQs. Also, what are those air inlet jets for? It looks like alien technology applied to a TQ for faster than light travel :D.. sorry I got excited there for a minute

    TQ question

Just info add to thread. I went out to check my 360 out back. This is what came on my 74 360 duster. Ran smooth. Turns out to be non-factory. I never knew, it looks original to me. PN 9801S which is a "perf / off-road" Carter - Mopar TQ. Not sure of primary size. Not for sale btw.

Help me pick a new carb

I like this company. Many people on this site really like them. Some really do not. They sell a large array of performance and pre-calibrated pre-setup gear. They will work w you over you the phone, then build you a Quick Fuel and set it up completely for your application b4 shipping it to...

Manifold heat cross over physics and benifits

I think you hit the nail directly on the head right here. How do we get the best of both worlds? TBI and MPFI are sweet as pie but expensive and challenging as hell to most. Lots of economical TBI don't flow much over 300 - 325 HP. Obviously TBI still has some wet manifold issues but they are...

Manifold heat cross over physics and benifits

Hey, its all good here krazy :) I reckon in my recent pondering statement I was just speaking primarily to my belief that was also mentioned by RustyRatRod regarding plastic MPFI intake vs heated crossover old style intake and the potential difference in density of charge. Good point. Use of...

Krazy, We are still going around and around but that is fine with me. I reckon you are disagreeing w me because my posts must not be clear or you have not read them all. I have literally been stating exactly what you stated below, for this entire thread. :) I agree. The only thing I may beg...

Manifold heat cross over physics and benifits

Hysteric, Thank you. Ill get both and see how I do. Apparently the second one is full of fluid dynamics and other advanced physics so on the mathematical portion, I will be sucking wind. They are cheap = used on amazon.

Manifold heat cross over physics and benifits

Rusty, I reckon that's why MPFI manifolds / systems are the best of both worlds. Amongst a multitude of other benefits, they allow a cool(ish) denser charge with out the vaporization and fuel distribution issues of a wet manifold. For a carbureted engine it is primarily effecting accelerator...

Manifold heat cross over physics and benifits

krazykuda, Yes, idling for 15 is not economy conducive. I should have mentioned that is not why I do it. I do it to warm up the oil, intake and entire engine. Having block and oil fully warm ensures optimum lubrication to the top end. Having engine warm improves throttle response and 4...

Manifold heat cross over physics and benifits

My carb will remove choke incrementally based on temp (really its mainly a timer the electric choke) until it is 90% eliminated, while maintaining the fast idle cam in position if you dont "kick" it off. It is possible that many carburetors will do this if adjusted properly. So, I'm not running...

Manifold heat cross over physics and benifits

Best of both worlds would suite me fine. I always completely warm up to operating temp b4 driving a carbureted car. The debate is weighted when a person cold starts and drives to the bank then the car is off for 30 minutes and this is repeated all day. During less than optimal operating...

Manifold heat cross over physics and benifits

As compared to a heated manifold, I seriously doubt anyone could. The carb spacer with coolant served both purposes. One it heated for cold weather but the other benefit was it was a heat sink as a buffer for heat rising from manifold after engine stopped. That is my guess.
  29. Rice Nuker

Manifold heat cross over physics and benifits

I think I would take more fuel consumption (from a cold manifold) over less power and more boiling carburetor action. Down side is drastically accelerated engine wear and poor cold weather driving to boot.

Manifold heat cross over physics and benifits

Logically speaking creating or encouraging porosity or derivations in the texture of a wet intake manifold does two things. One, yes it creates turbulence which may lead to fuel being agitated off the walls, into suspension which hopefully leads to atomization and secondly it doubles or triples...
