    Lost reverse?

I would be interested in watching that but I'm not likely to take on the build at this time. Know your limit play within it. I can drop the pan and have a look but if you don't know what you're looking for it's of limited help. I've had 2 back surgeries in the last 3 years so yanking out a...

    Lost reverse?

Thanks Tony, those were very informaitve clips. Sorry if I offended you, I honestly was trying to dummy down my questions to keep it as simple as possible. What broke and does the bloody trans have to come out depending on the possible problems? Given the clips had the trans out and gutted for...

    Lost reverse?

I could rmove the pan but I have no idea what a servo looks like? no mention of it in the factory shop manual either. ..and if it is the band the trans has to come out and be rebuilt basically?

    Lost reverse?

...so if it is a band I gather it has to be yanked and torn apart?

    Lost reverse?

No I haven't driven it. It's at the end of the driveway and at over 3 tons I'm going to have to drag it out of there and take it to a trans shop. My skills are in the body and paint dept, I can wrench on motors to a reasonable extend but transmissions are over my head.

    Lost reverse?

I just lost reverse in my 90 RAM, never had a problem with it before. Put it in reverse this morning and nothing, drive is fine. Any ideas on this, it's a 727. I'm hoping it's a cheap fix, not wanting to get it rebuilt :banghead:

    Jeep trans problem

I just topped up the rad the other day, it was low so nothing much to see. It's Dexcool, the red stuff so the color isn't all that far off the trans fluid which doesn't help. I'll have a look at everything tonight when I get home.

    Jeep trans problem

Thanks, good to know a flush is a waste, I'll check the vent tonight, not sure where it is exactly. I assume somewhere off the case. Not milky pink, pretty much the right color but watered down. The rad was down recently so it is a possibility but how would I know if it's actually leaking...

    Jeep trans problem

It doesn't look burnt, it looks light pink more than red, it looks thinned if you know what I mean. I didn't actually smell it but there wasn't a burnt smell lingering or I would have noticed. And no it isn't slipping, she said it was running perfectly but the light came on.

    Jeep trans problem

I always thought it was supposed to be running? Regardless, what concerns me other than the light being on is the look of the fluid, every time I've ever checked trans fluid it looked the same as the oil does on a dip stick, other than color of course. This looks like it's boiled perhaps?

    Jeep trans problem

It was high actually, I checked it in park with the motor running, didn't know you should check it in neutral. Between the idiot light being on and the fluid looking like soda pop on the stick something isn't right.

    Jeep trans problem

Not an A-body but I know we have an amazingly diversified group of smart folks here. My wife has a 2002 Jeep TJ, or perhaps Wrangler in the US. The trans idiot light came on today so I checked the fluid for starters, it wasn't low but it was bubbly/fizzy on the dip stick? I can't say I've ever...

    Long tailshaft 727?

Thanks, I was wondering about the yoke assembly. I'm also swapping out the rearend for an 8 3/4. I didn't know the long shaft 727 was for cars, thought it was the other way around. I don't know if I can find the right driveshaft but getting the one I have shortened isn't a problem. Not sure...

    Long tailshaft 727?

I'm gearing up to finally do the 360/727 swap into my 70 Duster /6 904. The trans I have is the long 727, is there any issues with using this trans? other than the driveshaft length

    727 Tail Measurement....

Me thinks you're right, looks too short. I'm not at home to measure but I know from mocking up my street rod project about an inch was the goal as I recall.

    Are 2.45 gears bad?

Depends on they type of driving you do, 2:45's are very much a highway gear not a performance ratio. You can cruise at high speeds with low rpm's and get good mileage. If you want to race you want to go much taller like 4:11. A really nice compromise is 3:55's, that's what I'm looking for.

    1973 Plymouth Duster NEWBIE!!

Welcome to the forum, there's lots of info here. I can't answer your questions myself but I know I've read about the tire size question you have so if you look around you'll find it, try the search feature. I'm also going to be converting my 70 Duster to floor shift at some point, not sure what...

    Is this a good deal?

Sounds like a good deal to me but it's a B-body so I would think it would be too wide for your Swinger. If in doubt you can always measure the two and compare.
