I am trying to identify the right stock coil part number and appearance (black with what color writing/stamping s) for a 4 speed 71 Duster with electronic ignition. Was this coil part number also used on other models and years? Trying to find the right coil for a 71 Duster restoration. Any...

    fried msd box

I recall reading when I installed an MSD that if you hook them up wrong it could cause an issue. I did just that and had MSD fix it. If I recall correctly they suggest disconnecting the main power if you weld on the car also.

    MSD distributor guru

You can try FBO in Oregon. They curve distributors. Not sure they work on MSD but certainly worth a quick call or email. There was also another member, not Ray, selling reconditioned distributors a while back. May be worth a search in the for sale ads. FBO Performance Ignition for all...

Best source for underdash hot lead ?

On a bracket car I ran a hot lead from the starter solenoid on the drivers inner fender into the car, connected it to a suitable switch for the load, and connected the ignition hot lead to the other side of the switch. Crank the engine and then flip the switch.

Curious to see if anyone has tried to squeeze the DUI HEI distributor with large Chevy style cap in the small block A Body. DUI mentioned there needs to be a minimum of 1.5 inches from the stock cap to the fire wall. No mention about the wiper motor up top. My car 69 Barracuda is apart so I...

I have read in the past that ignition wires # 5and #7 should be crossed to prevent cross fire. I have not experienced any ignition issues with my MSD 6A running this way. How are you keeping them apart near the distributor and spark plugs?

Petronix now has a new version "III" that is multi spark and has a rev limiter. I would stay away from that eBay unit.

    best distributor

This is correct. The cap/coil combo is too large for A body small blocks. They do have a stock size cap and HEI unit that uses an external mounted coil. No need to mount a control unit as it is attached to the distributor. Like several other suppliers they will custom the advance to your...

Anyone run a Pertronix Ignitor III ignition module

I have heard they are pretty reliable and better than points. There is a new version out that has a rev limiter and multi-spark. Anyone tried it yet? Just curious if I should try it versus trying to hide a stock ignition box to keep the enginer compartment clean and original looking.

Anyone run a Pertronix Ignitor III ignition module

Just wondering if anyone has run the points replacement Ignitor III module. I like the simplicity of the swap. Just wondering if it offers similar durability and spark energy compared to a Mopar conversion ignition kit. Thanks
