Aluminum Block 170 surfaces this weekend

Damn! Blew that info up to 300% on my 54" TV and still can't read half of it:(

Is there a junkyard gem slant six combo?

I want to go EFI/turbo eventually. Lighter reciprocating assembly, possibly a lighter block too. The cast crank should handle a turbo. Narrow the rod ends so I don't have to buy K1 rods.

Is there a junkyard gem slant six combo?

Rod journals narrower on the cast cranks?

    Stock exhaust manifolds vs headers

600cfm is kind of large. Whatever happened to the 390 Holley's? I used to run consistent 10.58's in the 1/8th with 3 on the tree, 198 open 3:23's, M-1 intake 318 BB or a Holley 2bbl off a slant. Stock valves and cam, Hooker headers with a H pipe crossover duals out the back, with Superior...

Is there a junkyard gem slant six combo?

Cast crank engines have narrower rod journals don't they? I was wanting to pull the rods out of my '72 198 to use that engine for the lighter crank, and if I remember right lighter block. I am eyeing my neighbor's '80 or '81 van. A friend used to own that van and I knew that van when it was...

What's the best way to find a dead cylinder?

Infrared gun told me #4 was pumping @ambient temperature. I had drilled out a jets on a BBD which mad it pig rich on the dyno. I may have wiped the rings on my low mileage 198. It has been sitting since 2009. Driving over the road left me no time to play with it. When I came off the road it was...

What oil filter has a stand pipe in it for the slant? I forget. #1 filter not to get is Fram.

    Troubleshooting Head Components

240 Ford inline 6 had the valve seals laying in the bottom of the head. (claimed 9.2:1 factory compression) Tons of carbon in the chambers. 100K on it. Smoked bad, had tons of compression due to the clumps of carbon that made the chambers smaller. Tons of crap on the pistons too. Burned a lot...

    Troubleshooting Head Components

Mopars have soft valve guides. Mic the stems, then mic the guides. I would really have the guides replaced without all the measuring.

    Troubleshooting Head Components

I agree light sludge. Diesel oil is high in detergents. I run that in my cars. Rotella semi-synthetic. Had the intake off my '97 Lesabre a couple of weeks ago. I could see the valve stems. Clean like new. 230K+ on it. Really clean every where else.

    TorqStorm Supercharger build advice needed

Mopars have soft valve guides. Rev it up, lift and look at the tail pipe. If it is sucking oil through the valve guides you will have blue smoke. WIFI cameras are really cheap, Look and see if you have a bunch of crud on the top surfaces of your valves.

    TorqStorm Supercharger build advice needed

4.0 TBI is a good candidate off a jeep. Blowers eat fuel and horsepower. Turbo is an easy fit in a truck. 3.8 Buicks pick up 2mpg with the blower belt off.

Running boost you need to open up your standard ring gap. Ever consider going turbo?

    63 Dart overheating issue

When filling wait for the gauge to tick upwards to show the thermostat came open, and not installed backwards. Then top off. Your system wasn't originally designed for a overflow reservoir. You may need to go to a different pressure rated cap. I am sure you have E10 in Canada. Ethanol will...

How can I get these nuts off of the throttle so I can slide in the kickdown linkage

The kickdown linkage needs to be attached and adjusted. The new part you ordered looks like an accident waiting to happen. Get the genuine part. Don't be stubborn. Grow a thick skin and ask the stupid questions, the members here will be of great help to you and help steer you the right way...

    Building a slant for torque

Career change. Went to driving trucks. Had to go over the road for 15 months. Duster hasn't moved since 2009. I have a D350 CTD that sat since 2011 or so. It's back running sort of driving. It has a fueling problem. I am thinking it's the injector pump. I bought a used IP and a bunch of extra...

    Building a slant for torque

Does any of the cam grinders make an RV cam for the slant? My philosophy on head porting on the street for the slant is port match the intakes to the gasket. Don't touch the intake. Allegedly it creates a small amount of anti-reversion/minor ram effect. I read that many years ago in reference...

Anyone run the Weber knock off 38 progressive 2bl here on their 225?

I think the Clifford I had the water box was cast in. I never used the intake. That or the Offy. There has been several models of the Clifford 4bbl. One had the bosses with the water box. One didn't have the bosses.

    Misfiring after Carter 2bbl install

What BBD do you have? Can't really tell on these carbs if they don't have the metal tag from the factory. I call all of the old ones "toilet bowl," and the newer style "tin tops." The metering rods and jets are totally different. The old ones are really thin rods. More like tiny sewing needles...

Anyone run the Weber knock off 38 progressive 2bl here on their 225?

That isn't the set up. I didn't know about this at all. I kick myself in the *** for selling my Clifford 4bbl intake. I had a set of the short headers too. Sold them to @CharlieS

Long rods for cast crank 225?

I may end up buying the van next door. My buddy sold it to the neighbor. 1980 I believe. Solid lifter, peanut head, cast crank(?) 8.25 double tag rear end. 3:55's with a sure grip. I did what I call an RV port job on it. Rebuilt a super 6 BBD and pulled the 1bbl off and did the electro crap...

Long rods for cast crank 225?

IIRC stock pistons have the pins at the wrong height to use 198 rods. So pistons go on the shopping list. Used to be 2.2 turbo ones? I thought about swapping a 225 crank into my 198 at one time. Bad idea with the existing pistons.

    Proper Exhaust Diameter fo a 4bbl 225?

I have a head in the shop. I was going to do that one for a '74 Dart. Trying to think what I had taken off that one. Trying to remember how it had been planed. I remember measuring the chambers at 45. Did I polish them? Maybe. I'll be out there today. Any porting? I'll be out there today.
