    Grinding when shifting -sometimes-

Yes, that is a Borg & Beck style pressure plate. I would check with the manufacturer but I believe you need the over center spring. The over center spring assists in lessening the amount of effort it takes for the driver to depress the clutch pedal.

    Grinding when shifting -sometimes-

Is your new pressure plate a diaphragm type ? If so, the over center spring should have been removed.

    Grinding when shifting -sometimes-

It looks to me like it is adjusted to tight. Try turning the adjuster nuts the other way. This will back the throw out bearing away from the pressure plate and should cause your clutch pedal to engage further off the floor.

    Grinding when shifting -sometimes-

Can you post a picture of your clutch adjustment rod? You may have it adjusted to tight. It should not be engaging so close to the floor.

    B-Body 4 speed?

If that setup is in good condition, $350.00 is a smokin deal. I would buy and then flip it. You should be able to make a few hundred that can be used to help buy the proper A-Body parts you need.

    Over-center spring install question...

You should be able to replace the clutch pedal provided the frame itself is not bent. My suggestion would be to replace that entire pedal assemble with a heavy duty (340/383 type). I see them for sale here on FABO all the time. Check with Barracuda Kid (aka Eddie Combs,) I'll bet he has a good...

    Over-center spring install question...

Frederick, I am assuming that your Centerforce Clutch is a diaphragm type. If this is the case, Centerforce has always recommended that the over center spring be removed. Being that you are using a hydraulic throw out bearing, I would call Centerforce's tech line to be sure. Russ

    4 speed ?'s

Maybe a member here who owns a 4 speed console could make a pattern and take some measurements. This way you won't be guessing on where to cut. I have one but it would have to be removed from my car. If no one offers to help you out within a few days, I will take mine out and do it for you...

    4 speed ?'s

Yep, The top console pictured is correct for a 4 speed. The bottom one is for an automatic. There is clearly a difference. In my experience, the 4 speed original consoles are rare and pricey. Russ

    4 speed ?'s

As it sits, that console will not work with your four speed. hopefully, someone will post a picture of the left side of a 4 speed console showing the difference.

    4 speed ?'s

Not much difference between the 2. You should not notice a difference in how the car will shift, no clumsiness to be concerned about. If you are planning to use an automatic console with a 4 speed, there is more to it than just changing the top plate. There is a fiberglass cover that needs to...
