Make sure when you install the axles you give them a wrap with a hammer to make sure they are seated. Agin when your done adjusting to make sure the end play doesn’t change.

Look with you having a custom housing, your axles are probably not the right length to work with thrust buttons and the axle adjuster. At this point I think Green bearings will make your life a whole easier.

Without the buttons and stock bearings you would never be able to adjust the axle end play. The axles would move in and out.

Actually the 8 1/4” in my 69 Dart howls. And it was built be Orlando Drivetrain for the previous owner about 17 years ago. He paid them $800.00

And when you install it and it howls worse than a Blue Tic hound? PRICELESS!

Well if you can post a picture of both rear ends, maybe I can tell you what you have. What is it your trying to do?

If I understand the question. You have what I call a hybrid 7 1/4” with BBP and C clip axle? If so, no it won’t work as the axles are held in bolts on the standard 7 1/4. And the later model hybrid rear has C clips holding axles in. If we are talking about the same thing.

Yours is a Dana clutch type. But for the 7 1/4” new parts are hard to come by.

That’s not all. They make a Hybrid BBP 7 1/4” that looks like a 8 1/4” kinda. That threw me for a loop.

Either the bearing is to thick for the Axle housing end , or the lock collar is hitting the seal.

Remove a seal and you will know for sure.

Well then your bearing lock collar is contacting the axle seal in the tube.

Depends if it is a Dana clutch type or Borg Warner cone SG. I can’t tell by that picture if the thrust buttons or a spacer there.

Oh ok. Your talking about the trust block. Yes you may need to remove it or shorten your axles.
