    73 Dart Ignition Questions

The FBO plate is crazy easy to use & gives several options to limit the mechanical curve. Get a spring kit & curve that bad boy yourself. Its a fun quick project & easily at the novice/beginner skill level.

    Pinging

Pump shot is good piece of advice. I went from the stock #31 shooter to #35 on my 600 after the cam swap in the 318 but more of a remedy for a stumble than a ping. I'm concerned about the detonation with such a low initial timing. Even a stock 360 I would imagine would like 12* or more. I run...

Anyone tried an MSD E Curve distributor?

You may want to hold onto your 6A box. Although the E-Curve doesn't require an external box, it is not a CD unit. It is however able to use a CD box. Just a thought.

Believe in the GM HEI ignition now?

I erroneously believed the statement would be taken in context of improved ignition performance.

Believe in the GM HEI ignition now?

That's a pretty dramatic differnce & it sounds great. Does anyone have any feedback on how it compares with with the MSD/Mallory (CD) style ignitions? I get funny about form, & I like the way the MSD looks & would hope the function would give me similar results to the HEI.

    Another distributor question

This option works great and is crazy easy. just a plate you drop in with several advance settings. Check it out at 4 seconds flat. http://4secondsflat.com/

    mechanical advance

4 seconds flat makes a premade, drop in plate to adjust mechanical advance. here's a link, its almost 3/4 down the page. http://4secondsflat.com/Ignition.html

    mechanical advance

22* is not out of bounds especially if you have a high duration cam. at 268 @ .050 my teener likes 20* initial. Best thing to do is hit it with a light and take a solid reading.

    73 plymouth scamp 83 318 won't start

Check all grounds as they are notorious. Make sure magnetic pickup plug on dizzy is pushed all the way in. Likewise there is a similar plug on the passenger's side of the harness that usually is near the back of the valve cover, make sure that is pushed all the way in as well. If coil has...

    No Spark

I was thinking it may be a coil wire as well. I'll pick up a new set of ignition wires & balast resistor. Hopefully it's one or the other. I'm dieing to hear this thing fire.

    No Spark

Okay recently did a cam and head swap and after what seemed like endless setbacks, finally got everything reassembled. When i went to fire it up for the first time, it turns over really nice but no spark. Was able to determine that im getting power to the coil. I then replaced the coil but still...

    Rev-N-ator ignition boxes?

This month's issue of Mopar Muscle did a write up comparing the Mopar Orange box/ Chrome box & Rev-N-Ator... The Rev-N-Ator out performed the chrome box pretty significantly. I don't have the article in front of me to be able to quote the numbers (I believe they used a 440 to test). Interesting...
