    Tire monitor systems - aftermarket.

Thank you, that was useful information. I looked at that one, but the name threw me. I went to e-trailer and many, many Utube videos. So many different things between each one. I like the pressure and temp idea. I replace my tires every 2 years. I own so many trailer with capacity over...

    Tire monitor systems - aftermarket.

So the wife and I tow a toy hauler for our quads (full camper with a rear door that opens to drive the ATV s in, or golf cart or side by side) it’s 2 axle and 4 tires 80psi Then there is my 24ft car trailer 2 axle 80psi. So currently I have a valve stem cap that changes color of tire pressure...

    How does this crimper work?

If working properly - that is a GOOD tool. Older- I’ll admit. But I still have a similar one issued by GM to me back in the early 90’s for proper crimping of heat shrink Delphi connectors replacement.

    Oil filter cutting tool

I bought an oil filter cutting tool off Amazon. $30.00 delivered. What a cool tool. Just a lot of fun cutting open filters and seeing what they have inside. I used to use a hack saw… not so much fun. Messy and filing in the filter kinda skew the results. Just thought I would share. Syleng1

How often do you drain your air compressor?

Before I turn it on I drain it. These colder temps (shop not heated unless I’m there) I drain it at the end of the day if it was ran. Typically cold air is dry air. Very little as compared to say August Humidity.

    Lower Control arm Tools

Or just catch the rubber on fire with a small torch and it will burn itself apart then a simple cut with a wizzer wheel and it pops right off. Air hammer and cutting chisel for the other half. Assembly with a hydraulic press is a bit more classy.

    CAR COVERS ?

The other option is enclosed trailer storage. I’ve done that for years. I even throw a tarp over the top of the trailer for added protection from water and snow. A bit extreme but it works cheaper than another garage. Syleng1

I either need a different welding helmet, or I need to stop breathing.

As a professional welder here is a possibility of what is wrong. Where the head gear meets the helmet there is typically one side or possibly both an adjustment. There are like 4 tiny holes a tab that rotates and has a small pin on that tab that drops into. It sets how far the helmet sits from...

    Gutting my shop

Boy do I know that feeling. My current shop is big and over the last 10years of my relationship with it it has filled with clutter. I’m in my 50’s and seem to have a hard time letting go of stuff. This causes even more issues with clutter. Personal stuff and business stuff and “keep for bad...

    Metal Building/ Garage…

Why not stick build the four walls and use engineered trusses. A local lumber yard can source the metal siding and needed fasteners and trims. Make sure you insulate and ridge vent and soffit for breathing. That building is small and manufacture possibly has a perlin going right across that face...

    Mighty-Vac?

I’ve had the metal one for over 25 years with no issues. I was going to replace it because that diaphragm is going to break eventually. Did not know metal was even available any longer. I will ask the snap on guy next week when he comes to my shop. My understanding was the metal could be...

    Air Fittings

I switched over to the purple fittings for 1/4” stuff. I barely notice a difference except I could be imagining this but I get less moisture out of the high speed tools like die grinders or wizzer wheels than before. But not more performance. I like the quick connect action also and they make...

    OBD2 Scanner Recommendation

That’s the issue- if you need to home an abs module or custom set adaptive on an auto transmission a plain scanner can not do that. The big money covers the rights to access priority software. So on a scanner for big truck Diesel engines. Every year You had to pay out $250 for updates for Cat...

    OBD2 Scanner Recommendation

Auto parts reader for under $100 or real mans scanner for $3000.00 $250 will not buy you anything that can actually change anything just read data. The new snap on scanners are crazy money but are amazing. Try buying a used repair shop level off face book marketplace or Craigslist.

    Snap On MW120 MIG Welder

If it has a tweco mig gun then go to tweco for the liner. A snap on dealer can get you the parts but expect big $ for a small cost. If you bring the gun assembly to a welding supply dealer they should be able to match up the liner. Being it is a 120- what is the plug on the wall side? 120vac or...

Concrete base problem in garage shop. Any construction folks?

So the crushed gravel is used for water drain under the concrete and help with leveling out of the concrete to maintain thickness. In New England we use crushed granite -3/4” washed and compact evenly every 2-3” thick until desired height is obtained. Typically a 4” pour (I prefer 6”) of 3500psi...

Planning a shop build, any suggestions?

Take 1/4” graph paper and mark out the building using 1/4” blocks per 3” then measure everything you want to put in it and cut out that shape doing the same thing. You will see how quickly the shop will fill up. You have to leave 3’ around cars to open doors and move safe around and not chip...

    next project...rear plow

Look- as a person who has owned them commercially for plowing they work great. especially in condo units. Back up, drop both plows drive forward just past one truck length. Pick up both- back up and drop the front only and done. Also good for residential driveways because it cleans up over...

    next project...rear plow

Due to the length and amperage of the pump (180-250amps on most plow pumps) I would go 2/0 welding cable. Easier than hydraulic hoses all the way to the back like one truck I had with a pull plow out back. The guy put the pump up front next to the master cylinder - short battery cables and then...
