    Bayonet shifter - won't give!

Spray some pb blaster on the joint the night before and allow to sit over night. Dirt and rust sometimes make it “feel” impossible to work.

    Flywheel to crank bolt size

I just did ARP on a crank and flex plate/ TQ - same bolts for both on my application. They use a special grease not loc-tite. I spoke to the guy at ARP and he said “if you use their bolts, do not expect the same levels of confidence with loc-tite.” Now, does any one know why? Sorry Steve, didn’t...

340 4 speed duster shifter handle?

Okay- but that’s we called them back in the day. All because the throw distance was shortened… we called them quarter stick or quarter throw. Never really measured them.

    Some snags with my conversion

How about starting with the combination you are running. Pictures help a lot and what is your actual question?

340 4 speed duster shifter handle?

Yours looks like the Hurst Quarter Stick. Popular in the 80’s for short throw.

    pilot bushing problem

I have not replaced a pilot bushing in some time but it was common practice to soak the bushing in motor oil (warm like room temp) over night before the install. I never learned “why” but the old timers I learned MoPar from made me do it and it worked. Never an issue. “Wives tale?” Not sure. I...

    Need a shifter handle picture

I’m looking for a picture or two of a correct shifter handle that would had been factory in my 1972 Demon 340/4 speed car. It is the lowest level for trim. Blue plaid bench seat, No console, rubber floor mat. Only option was am radio and power steering. Were they Off set to the passenger side...

    Wrong slant 6 pressure plate

Maybe don’t buy your set up off Amazon? Try Brewers or Passion or Mancini. They cost more but the parts are better quality. In this day and age China builds it and the quality fit and finish is not the same as factory.

    Input rollers misplaced

If it gets bumped, the shaft sliding into that one will not go in all the way. As for 1k per year that would be 30,000miles more or less . I think you would had known as shifter forks would not work and line up properly. Now with that said, I’ve seen those needle bearings disintegrate and can...

    PEDAL TO Z BAR ROD

Well heck than. Maybe the bushings are shot. Looked at Brewer’s and saw HD and Std. Need to measure pivot shaft to see what I got. 340/4 I figured HD but maybe not. Thanks.

    PEDAL TO Z BAR ROD

Sorry- don’t mean to wake a sleeping dog. My 72 Demon all the sudden started to not return the clutch pedal all the way. If I tap the pedal it clicks (spring sound in back ground) and it snaps back into normal spot. I crawled under the dash and saw my rod at the pedal side (goes down to the z...

    A833 shifter plate removal.

Don’t be afraid to shock the bolts. PB blaster on the bolts and then wack the adapter with a wood block and a hammer a bit back and forth. The wood will transmit the energy but not damage the aluminum from the harder hammer head. Also smack the bolts head on. The shock will break up the...

    Guess this sound! Bad clutch?

It will still be bad but leaving an air gap between clutch fingers and bearing will limit the noise.

    Guess this sound! Bad clutch?

Throw out bearing is bad. Try adjusting it and see it that helps.

Need a photo of a 4 speed hump from underneath 1972.

Yes - I get that. I’ve done both re-popped metal and factory metal cut from another car in my welding shop. Because this guy is dropping off the body on a rotisserie, I want it to look spot on. On tv- they just cut out a hole put the hump on and weld. But factory did not do that. When this guy...

Need a photo of a 4 speed hump from underneath 1972.

Hey Guys- I’ve got a client who asked me to install a 4 speed hump on a 1972 Dart body. Does anyone have a photo to share with me what the finished look from underneath factory should be ? Especially if the body is on a rotisserie. I want to do a nice job with seam sealer and know how much...

Problems going back in to gear after..

What oil is in the transmission. Most run ATF, I found on older transmissions I either go 80w90 or a mixture of both when they get noisy and hard to shift. You could have a simple issue like the clutch not fully disengaging or synchros and bearings are worn out which leads to other issues.
