I'm sorry I have to apologize the transmission I was referencing is actually an A-998/999, not an 899. This is my mistake.

Stock 318 bolt on performance modifications

It fit under my flat '74 duster hood no problem. I was surprised when I started looking for turbo components how cost effective it could be. If you're not shooting for 600+hp it can be had pretty cheap. If you wanted I've got my old up pipes I could sell to you pretty cheap. The T3 flanges...

Stock 318 bolt on performance modifications

'92s are the good ones, and they can be 318 or 360 there isn't any difference.

Stock 318 bolt on performance modifications

Magnum engine (efi~$500-600) + twin turbos(~$800). Manual steering, magnum manifolds (flipped left to right), U-pipes up for turbo mount, Used mustang SVO turbos with internal waste gates, FMU, air hat, charge cooler(I used water/meth). I got 16/20 mpg with a 727, could spin 275/60/15s at...

    318 mystery problem, somewhat solved!

I'm not too familiar with the fast system, but I do believe that it has to do a bit of "learning" while driving for it to fully dial in for your specific engine. Based on map, tps, and o2 inputs. If it's falling on it's face after hard acceleration, if it doesn't adjust fuel supply quickly...

Thats not entirely true. Yes there are vehicles that came with security from the factory. But even in the years that offered "security" PCMs there were also non-security versions. As I recall, security was first offered on 1999 model years. But anything prior to that is not a concern and...

    360/300 magnum Questions/suggestions

Like UOP said you can tell the difference between the 318 and 360 but the casting numbers on the driver side of the block. It will say 318 or 360 so no decoding needed. As far as making power as cheaply as possible. I would go with a mild cam, Iron ram heads 2.02/1.625, and a good intake...

    360 magnum

For the transmission, if you can find an 899 (904 w/ lock up converter) you can net mileage gains with that and there aren't any trans tunnel mods needed as far as I know. You can engage/disengage the lockup with pressure switches. If you decide to keep the FI and have any questions feel free...

the speed sensor is a direct swap into any 727, 904, 899, A(500-518 ), (44-46)RE. What I did for my application was to source a speed sensor from a late 80's dodge truck that has output for both the electric sender, as well as a cable drive which operates my factory speedo.

Here are the pinouts for the automatic shutdown relay and fuel pump relay, which are the only relays required to have power for normal engine operation in OBD2 trucks between 1996-2000.

I don't see myself having time to modify the harnesses like I originally planned, however I'm still trying to find a way to make this easier for everyone interested. For now I've started another thread where I will try to provide wiring harness diagrams, ECM pinouts and advise to help anyone...

Sounds like you've got what you need. Do a little reading on it from what ever you can find and if you have any questions I'll help as much as I can. All in all it doesn't take much time. When I did the OBD2 setup on my duster, which is my second efi engine, it only took me a few hours once I...

I shouldn't be too bad on your 273, but the intake won't work. You'll need to get an EFI intake that will bolt to LA heads, which isn't too hard or costly. You also need a magnum dizzy, a magnum flywheel, and to notch your bell housing for the crank position sensor. All in all though it...

I came across some of my old pinouts and wiring diagrams I used to hook up a '94 5.2l magnum into my '74 duster. I'll work on getting the schematics scanned onto her later this week. This isn't a how to and any information provided within is to be used at you own risk. However, I'm happy...

Definitely a couple good points in there. Trans crossmember would only be necessary if one elected to go with an OD trans. To me for the guys up north in particular or in the mountains one of the biggest benefits of fuel injection is not having to fight with the carb. My idea is to offer a...

To put any of the OD transmissions in the Abodies requires modification of the cross member, either completely removing the upper crossmember or cutting it down and reboxing it. Then you have to fab up a lower to bolt to it.

I haven't found a harness from Mopar Perf. if they're making one. The only downside to the van harnesses vs the truck harnesses is that they are a bit shorter since the van ECM mounts onto the center of the firewall right about the engine. But they are still long enough to be fender mounted...

There is no good way that I've found to adapt it to a BB engine, because the cam position sensor is built into the magnum Dizzy. so ya you'd kinda be starting from scratch.

Only disadvantage you will have by not having an O2 in the second exhaust stream is if you have an injector failure on that side. All things working properly it won't matter because the computer will regulate everything for you.

Trans tunnel only needs modified if going to an OD setup. Fuel deliver is just an inline pump and mechanical regulator(takes about an hour), because if I do this kit it will have the fuel pump relay with a power supply for the fuel pump. If this goes well I will work on a jig so that I can...

IMPORTANT: If you run Forced Induction on OBD1 or OBD2 definitely run a wideband O2 sensor. Honestly if you're going Forced Induction save yourself the headache and at least go OBD2. Tunes for OBD1 are approx. $600 from the few retailers that still do them. They are not very precise tunes...

Experience: I have adapted two Magnum wiring harnesses to work in my '74 Duster, the first was and OBD1 setup where the computer only controlled the engine functions. My more recent adaptation utilizes an OBD2 harness where the computer runs both the engine and the 44RE (electronic A500)...

    318 to 360 swap???

only thing i can think of is the externally balances flexplate as has been stated. Mounts should be the same and everything should just pop off the 318 and back on the 360.

    318 manifolds ?

The mystery seems to be solved, but just for good measure my '74 doesn't have one and it has nothing to do with the seat belt interlock. Emissions sounds like the most likely culprit.

    318 engine build help

I'm with some of the comments posted here, N/A 5-600HP just isn't feesible. For that power range the easiest way to go is forced induction. You wouldn't be the first to have a blown 318 and it's not that hard to do. As for those who think it is thousands upon thousands of dollars, I'm going...
