!!!!What is your opinion of the condition of gears in this 4 speed!!!!!! PICS INSIDE

Those dog teeth are worn. There's no fixing that other than with new gears. Obviously you would also need new synchro's. Good luck, Antoon

71 Dart - Fitting the floor shifter

I converted my 68 valiant a few years back, same floor as the 71 darts, and no trimming of the crossmember was needed. Antoon

is my crank a 4 speed crank??

There were two ways the cranks were drilled. Pre-drilled, like you have, and finish drilled, then the crank with a similar hole like you've got was drilled again for the correct bronze bushing. Contact brewers and they will set you up with the correct bushing. Antoon

    4-Speed Question

What's the size of your output shaft? I say this because there are two sizes. one that's the same thickness as an A904, and the other is as thick as the A727. That's the one you need if you want it to handle 500hp. Antoon

    68 Barracuda original /6 with 4-Speed?

You could order a second gen barracuda with a slant six and a four speed overhere in europe. I've got a four speed out of a /6 67 barracuda. So it was indeed possible. Antoon

Ram rod. what does it fit in?

From other pics I found I also noticed that the shifter itself is always about the same, only the mounting plate makes it suitable for different transmissions. I don't have a tailshaft lying around so I can't install it just to determine if it will fit my A-body A833. I will have to fabricate my...

Ram rod. what does it fit in?

It's a hurst Ram Rod, an inline four speed shifter mechanisme. That's all I know. I looked for pics of other ram rods online, but couldn't find any that matched my shifter exactely. I'll look for some numbers and send hurst an email. Antoon

    340 4 speed crank

There's a good chance you're crank has allready been drilled by the factory, but just not finish drilled. in which case you can get an undersize pilot bearing bushing. If it's not drilled at all, you can also cut off an inch or so from the tip of the input shaft, and put a later style bearing...

    Z-bar questions with big block

I had a issue like this with my friends 65 coronet 2dr sedan. He has a centerforce clutch, and to get it to fully release it needed 1" of travel at the clutch fork, where the pushrods goes in it. Hope this helps. Antoon

my first post, help needed assessing damage

Those teeth are worn, when they are rounded on front on the teeth, which should be pretty sharp. Same goes for the synchro's. Antoon

    Speedo drive gear

You can use the speedo gear calculator on the moparts tech department. You can give in your own data, and it will tell how many teeth you need on the speedo. But I think it's around 33 teeth. Antoon

    shifting problem

Could be a synchro indeed. Try shifting without using the clutch (while driving). If you know how to do this you will notice that it will be easier to shift without using the clutch then with using the clutch. At least when the synchro is gone that is. By shifting this way, your shifting at the...

My [Ideally] Authoritative Auto to 4 Speed Documentation Thread

I've just finished the same deal, and I re-used the original rubber floormat. I heated it gently with a hairdrier so I could stretch it up a little and now it fits fine on the side, only on the rear of the hump the mat doesn't cover the hump, but that doesn't matter to me cause the bench covers...

    Flywheel

To balance your rotating assembly, you will also need the pressure plate. What kind to you have now? I definately would go with a good new clutch, like a centerforce. Antoon

    intenally or externally flywheel

Offcourse, along with the pistons and connectingrods, and everything that rotates, but there's a difference in the flywheel and balancer between an internal, and external crank, that's why I needed to know. Antoon

    intenally or externally flywheel

    intenally or externally flywheel

I took another look at the crank and found the part number, 103604000. A google search provided me with two awnsers, internally and externally. After visiting the eagle website I found crank 103604000 to be internally balanced (offcourse I have to balance the complete assembly, but now I can...

    intenally or externally flywheel

Recently I've bought an eagle 4" stroker crank for my 360. It's supposed to be a cast crank. Does this mean that I need an externally balanced flywheel or are the newer cast cranks also compatible with internally balanced flywheels? What's a good (good budgetwise as well) flywheel for a 408...

    Early 833 ID???

It's easy to check. Just put it in first (that's the rear shift-fork point on the side cover, and turn that clockwise). Then turn the input shaft until the output shaft has made one complete revolution, and count how many times you've had to turn the input shaft. If that's little over 3 turns...

    Early 833 ID???

I have no idea what those numbers mean, but if it's a 64-65 it must have the ball 'n trunion flange for the driveshaft. If it has a slip yoke it's a 66 up Antoon
