    Need Exhaust Recommendations

Looks sharp Ben. I'll have to wait until I get home to listen to the sound clip. I can't believe how much the shops are charging to do head pipes now. I must living in the past...

Exhaust opinions / Mandrel bent 2.5 or 3" / Input?

A single 3" would be plenty for a single turbo /6. Are you goiing with true duals or a split system?

Yeah, but he'd try to overcharge you for them and then forget to add insurance when shipping...:toothy10:

    Need Exhaust Recommendations

Ben, I am surprised at the lack of manifold-back exhaust systems vs header-back availability on the internet. Have you thought about maybe purchasing one of the Summit/Jegs header kits and having the shop fabricate attachments to the manifolds? This should keep your cost down to around $200-250...

    3" or 2.5" exhaust (pics)

Agree with above. 2.5" would be optimal for your combo.

    thrush chambered muffs

Sounds great. I guess I can expect the same kind of lope from the Mopar 280/480 cam.

    Show me your duals

I took more than 10 pics just to get you some tips. Almost all of them had the tips blend into the shadows. I couldn't get the proper lighting underneath. I'm an idiot when it comes to these things because I couldn't get the darn flash to work. Hopefully, some of the other members will add more...

    Show me your duals

I wish I had a better pic. But this one came out the best. I wanted a sleeper/throwback look to the exhaust.

    muffler question

I would start with the sound byte threads in the stickys. There's a lot of variation in there and you should find what your looking for. Plus, it's fun listening to everyone's sound bytes.

    Going through old parts.

NP Mike. It's the thought that counts. I'm glad you picked up that article. Let us know if those Magnums woek out well for you. -STAN

    Going through old parts.

Mike, if you're giving those away, I'll definitely take them at the cost of shipping. Can you provide a shipping estimate to 94587? Thanks - STAN

    quiet exhaust

The mufflers would go on after the cutouts. A full length exhaust with tailpipes out the back after the muffler will keep the noise down too.

    dart sport headers

TTi's are by far the best "street headers" http://www.forabodiesonly.com/mopar/showthread.php?t=30864 If you want to go cheapo headers, $99 set of Summit Racing headers will fit the bill. Just know that they hang low so crank those torsion bars up. Also, installation will be a pain. Plan...

    Block headers

Too much restriction where the drivers side headpipe meets with the header. There's an older thread with a link to a pic that shows this. Also, shorties offer little HP gain over manifolds so the upgrade is mostly cosmetic.

    which is the loudest?

Yep, I agree. I had a system that ended before the rear axle and it was LOUD! I had tailpipes added and it was much quieter.

    Thoughts, Opinions Wanted

Here's a pic of a fenderwell type header on a Flipnose '55 Chevy (I apologize in advance for the Chevy reference). HOpefully you can get an idea of how to route your system. This guy has the full exhaust routed inward (looks like a split welded into the collector) and then back with the dumps...

    header opinon

I like how my Hooker Super Comps perform and sound. But...if you want the best clearance and fit, get the TTI's. Here's a pic of my Super Comps. They have decent clearance, but there's some scrub under there.

Big block talk. B is low deck 383 or 400. RB is 426, 440.

    Dynomax Super Turbos

I had Super Turbos on a 71 Challenger, 340, headers and 2 1/2 exhaust, turndowns before the rear axle. Not a chambered muffler sound like Flows. But a whole different sound on its own. I liked it. I would stay with the ST since they come with the kit. I am sure those guys at TTI know what their...

Thanks for the feedback guys. I never looked at it from that perspective. I bought the headers before I joined this forum and my previous experience with Mopar headers was on an E-body.

    Decisions, Decisions...

Thanks for the advice Fishy68. I am planning on installing the ministarter along with the 90 degree oil filter before the headers go on. I am also in the midst of planning to have another 340 built but that is for another forum topic. If that is the case, then I will probably upgrade to the TTI...

    Decisions, Decisions...

Thanks Goody, I just spoke with a local exhaust shop in the area. They say for an additional $300 bucks, they'll put the headers on when they redo the exhaust. I guess I'll just have to deal with the knucklebashin' changing plugs and starters. T340

    Decisions, Decisions...

I have a 1973 Duster 340. I have a set of 95 318 Magnum manifolds, a set of Summit headers (part # G9040), or I can leave the stock 340 manifolds on. Any suggestions? I hear the Summit headers are a pain to install but I am trying to open up the exhaust a bit. Thanks.
