Have you checked your vacuum at idle with dist vacuum plugged?? You should have 13 inches of vacuum for a 6.5 PV.

I always thought that the vacuum secondaries were manufactured to give you better fuel economy? Mechanical secondaries are actuated every time to press on the accelerator too far but vacuum secondaries only open if you have enough vacuum to open them, like when you stomp on the gas...

No, it was a few years ago. Just make sure it's a "flow through" pump, they aren't expensive because you're not wanting a high pressure pump, just something to get the fuel to the carb. The flow through pump allows the engine mounted mechanical pump to pull gas through the electric pump after...

That's why I put an axuilary electric (flow thru) fuel pump on my Barracuda. I turn the key to "on" then flip the fuel pump switch....let it pump up the fuel to the carb (and mechanical fuel pump), it helped a lot.

Somebody probably removed them to use on another carb!! They come out pretty easy.

Holley makes/sells long and short tubes for their carbs....that said, I don't know why some come with long tubes and others with short tubes. I also know that sometimes, depending on carb issues, people install the long tube even though the carb came with a short tube, helps with gas escaping...

I always just keep dropping the PV size until the bog goes away. But that's only after I get the air/fuel, accelerator pump and pump cam correct.

The fuel leak isn't that big a deal except for the mess is makes. The main thing is that it sucks air through the loose shaft/bushing and that makes the car run poorly!!!

I built an high compression old school car and ran the PVC to the exhaust just past the headers. The exhaust creates a vacuum at the valve cover that increases with RPM.

I forgot to say that you've got to run a shielded cable from the accelerator linkage to the lever on the valve. This will compensate for changes in crankcase pressure relative to rpm/load. :rofl:

I don't know how much rust/snow/road salt you have in your area but I would put some paint on or spray on undercoat on the top side of the tank before installation. Of course I would also use the felt material (similar to think roofing tar paper). Lots of stuff ( water/salt/small rocks) end up...

The PV comes into play every time you accelerate when cruising. The Accelerator pump works off idle and a little at low cruising speeds. But it the PV that gives you the boost in fuel when your cruising (say at 30mph or 60 mph) and "punch it".

Power valve comes into play only when you accelerate!!

I don't think there's any way the motor would run right with all that mis-matched junk under the carb????????

The small bracket on the carb linkage is welded on....obviously incorrect>|???

Don't forget about the accelerator pump "cam"....those are those colorful plastic do-hickies in one of my pics. They determine how fast and at what rate fuel is dumped when you stomp on the gas. If the engine stumbles when you accelerate it could be the "cam". TOO MUCH INFO HUH???
