    How many times will they inspect the car?? If they only inspect it once for the VIN then you can get it inspected with the/6 then swap motors. If they say anything about it later all you have to say is that the /6 blew up and all you had was the bigger engine to replace it with.

    If I'm seeing it correctly, it looks like one of those valves broke off and rusted into the valve guide. Not sure how you can fix that, the guide would be destroyed when you try and get the rusted valve stem out???

    If it was a dirty fuel filter not only would it not run well but it wouldn't start after being off for a few minutes??? If the filter is dirty it will be dirty all the time, not just after it's been off for a few days.

    But that won't stop fuel from evaporating out of carb when the car sits with a hot engine/intake. It's the hot engine and intake that boils the fuel after you shut down the engine and let it sit. The fuel bleed back is another issue.

    I made myself some homemade metal shields out of sheet metal. I just shaped them using some pipe of the correct diameter and made them fit. The metal absorbs and dissipates the heat and protect the boots.

    A 1/16 steel spacer between the exhaust manifold (where the exhaust manifold gaskets goes) and the head as long as the outside of the manifold will still clear any other components?? Like the header flanges they make for home made headers. Like this but thinner...although this might work...
